Living Learning Community (LLC)

California State University, Northridge offers several living and learning communities (LLCs) from which to choose. In the LLCs, participants are drawn from a specific recognized major, academic program or college on campus. For some LLCs, participants are required to be enrolled in at least one course each year in or related to the specific major or academic program serviced by the LLC. Your roommates and neighbors share similar majors or the same class level. Each community offers its own scheduled events, academic support and social activities. Each LLC features a resident advisor, who is a member of the community, and a steering committee drawing from students, faculty, student housing staff and other campus staff. In this highly collaborative structure, students drive their communities, set priorities, plan activities and identify opportunities to improve academic and personal growth.

Research shows students who participate in LLCs are more academically successful and adjust better to college life. If you are interested in residing in one of the LLCs described in the sections below, you can apply during your housing application.
