Student Life
Why choose to live in CSUN Student Housing?
Building Relationships & Making Friends
Student Housing hosts many events throughout the academic year to promote student engagement and create an environment where residents can meet their peers and make friends.
From large-scale events like carnivals, pool parties, and scavenger hunts, to smaller, floor specific craft and movie nights, residents don't have to go far to find fun, social activities.

Academic and Emotional Support
Tutoring & Counseling
Student Housing offers on-site tutoring (The Spot) and counseling services (Let's Talk) to ensure that students living in housing can easily access the support they need. Student Housing, in collaboration with our campus partners in academic departments and counseling services, is committed to helping residents find the resources that promote academic success and emotional wellbeing.
Peer Support
Resident Advisors — our trained student leaders — are a first line of contact for our residents and play an important role in fostering a sense of community and creating a fun, safe, and positive living environment for all residents. RAs are tasked with assisting students in their academic success, connecting them with campus resources, and organizing events and activities.
Community Spaces for Social Connection

Outdoor Recreation
Student Housing has multiple pools, a sand volleyball court, a basketball court and many grassy areas perfect for outdoor activities.
From pool parties, pick-up volleyball and basketball games to picnics and outdoor events, our residents find many opportunities to spend time outside and take advantage of the beautiful SoCal weather.

Community & Learning Centers
Student Housing is home to multiple meeting spaces that offer an array of services that enhance the social and academic experiences for Housing residents. Our community center is a perfect place for students to hang out with friends — or make new ones — while playin a game of ping pong, a latest video game or one of many board games. The learning center has multiple study areas, a communal kitchen, and a multi-purpose room (MPR) used for various small and large scale events. Learn more about the community and learning centers.
Community Engagement & Getting Involved
The Residence Halls Association (RHA) is comprised of student leaders who serve as the voice for students living in CSUN Student Housing. The RHA board plans large-scale events and works with Residence Hall members to remedy student concerns. Learn more about RHA

Affinity Groups are designed to connect students through a common purpose, shared experiences, identity, or interests. Students who join an affinity group are more likely to feel more connected to their community. Each group offers its own events and programs that celebrate, support and advocate for students part of the community they represent. Learn more about Affinity Groups.
Resident Advisors have many different roles. They are peer counselors, community builders, programmers and administrators. RAs spend a significant amount of time getting to know residents as individuals and generating enthusiasm as they bring students together to create floor and hall communities. Dining on Campus

It’s often said, “variety is the spice of life.” It definitely holds true for campus dining at CSUN.
G’mos & Bamboo Terrace, a dining hall located in Housing, and other Matador Eats dining facilities on campus are not only where residents stop in for daily meals, but also serve as spaces for students to gather and be part of CSUN’s vibrant community. Learn more about dining on campus
