Cloud Jam

Banner of Cloud Jam 2020, saying showcase april 6th, cloud computing for everyone, no experience required

Cloud-Jam 2020 is the latest in the CSUN student Jam competitions. Cloud-Jam will present student teams with cloud computing resources and tools to solve real-world challenges pertaining to this year’s challenge: Sustainability in Los Angeles. Teams will use cloud tools and services to create a solution for sustainability issues in the greater Los Angeles area in one of the three pillars of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social. Students will learn about cloud concepts and have access to resources from top cloud providers to compete against other student teams.

The Cloud-Jam 2020 showcase has moved online! Join us at 3:15pm on Monday, April 6th for the closing remarks and the announcement of the Cloud-Jam 2020 winners!

The April 6th Showcase has concluded.

Here's how it works:

At least one team member is required to attend the kickoff, but that’s not the only reason to come! Cloud experts will be there and will be able to help you find the tools you need to make your project the best it can be.

Create or join a team of students to compete. Cloud-Jam involves some milestones that will be submitted throughout the competition, and learning resources will be provided by cloud experts from on-campus and from industry.

At the kickoff, you will learn about the challenges for Cloud-Jam. Take that information and begin to plan your project and get started!

Use the resources in Canvas, and support from the community and cloud experts to bring your idea to life. If you’re not a programmer, you can absolutely still participate! Many of the cloud tools can be operated in a web interface, and in conjunction with the resources in Canvas, you can piece together a feasible idea without having to write a line of code!

Teams will also upload a deliverable demonstrating how their project could work. This deliverable should highlight how your project addresses the challenge, and how you used the cloud to make it all work.

Cloud-Jam culminates in a showcase, where judges will be on-hand to evaluate your project based on the practicality and creativity of your projects. There will even be cloud experts on hand to look at how your project leverages the capabilities of the cloud tools you use!

Winners will be announced at the showcase, where prizes and awards will be given to two winning teams.
