What is Matadors Day of Service?
Matadors Day of Service is a university-wide event held in partnership with local non-profit organizations, campus partners and community leaders. During the event students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members engage in different beautification projects on campus and the surrounding area.
Event Information
Matadors Day of Service has been postponed to Spring 2024. The new date will be announced once available.
Teams of CSUN’s student volunteers participate in a series of beautification project, both on and off campus. The goal of is to not only engage the incoming freshman class and acclimate them to the campus life and service but to also show the surrounding community that CSUN cares and is willing to get involved and give back!
This fundraising event focuses on bringing awareness to breast cancer by hosting a Zumbathon event where all monetary donations will be donated to cancer research and resources. Students have the opportunity to purchase tickets for this event, as stated prior all monetary donations are donated to the foundation for the cure.
In collaboration with Meet Each Need with Dignity, “M.E.N.D’s mission is to meet immediate needs of individuals and families and increase their access to opportunities that strengthen their capacity to thrive.” CSUN students will collect items and donate to the families within the San Fernando Valley by bringing awareness to the homelessness community and its needs.
In collaboration with M.E.N.D., CSUN students adopt a family for the Thanksgiving holiday by providing a family in need a Thanksgiving meal.
This event aims to provide CSUN students with access to nonprofit organizations, volunteer and internship opportunities in the community through a tabling resource fair.
Unified We Serve Presents CSUN’s 13th Annual Cesar Chavez Service Fair. Tuesday, March 29th from 11 am to 2 pm at the Matador Square, located in front of the Matador statue. The Cesar Chavez Service Fair is a tabling event for nonprofit organizations to provide CSUN students with volunteer, mentorship, and internship opportunities. We will be having a guest speaker, Ernesto Ayala, Chair of La Raza Unida. At 12noon he will be giving a speech on the importance of Cesar Chavez and why we honor him. Following that will be the entertainment of Mariachis.
