Group Exercise FAQs
Group Exercise (GX) classes are available to all SRC members and their sponsored guests. Dependent members and sponsored dependent guests ages 16 to 18 may also participate in any available class. However, dependents under the age of 16 are not authorized to enter into the studio while a Group Exercise class is in session, even if accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Any non-SRC member interested in attending a class must be sponsored by an SRC member and purchase a $10 guest pass at the front desk. The sponsored guest must be present with the SRC member at the time of entry. Exception: Lunchtime Express for CSUN Faculty & Staff.
All Group Exercise classes are complementary with the purchase of any SRC membership. See available membership options. Sponsored guests of SRC members are also able to participate in any available Group Exercise class once they have purchased a guest pass at the front desk.
Yes. It is recommended that you provide your preferred email address when setting up the account. This will ensure you receive notifications from MINDBODY.
Sponsored guest may only register for a Group Exercise class in-person at the Total Training Zone desk on the same day as the class. Online registration is only available to active SRC members. If there is no space available in the class, the guest is welcome to wait in the stand-by line 10 minutes prior to the class start time for potential remaining availability.
Class registration opens one day in advance at midnight and can be completed through the SRC Rec & Wellness Portal, MINDBODY app or in-person at the Total Training Zone desk.
A master list of all Group Exercise classes and their descriptions can be found at either of the Training Zone desks, or you can read descriptions and reviews of currently available classes through the SRC Rec & Wellness Portal and MINDBODY app.
The Lunchtime Express program allows CSUN faculty and staff to access a select number of Group Exercise classes at no cost. This program is offered as part of the CSUN HR Professional & Personal Development program. The class schedule will change each semester and are marked with the red sun icon on the Group Exercise class schedule.
All the necessary equipment is provided for each class, with the exception of hand wraps for boxing classes. Participants are asked to purchase a set of 180” hand wraps at the Pro Shop or a local fitness retail store prior to participating. Note: Fitness equipment, other than boxing gloves and yoga mats, are not permitted in the facility.
No. Group Exercise participants are asked to store their personal belongings in an available locker or storage area within the facility before arriving to the studio. Bags, purses and other large items will not be allowed in the studio.
No. Each class is led by a certified instructor and designed to accommodate all fitness levels and abilities. However, the SRC strongly recommends that you consult with a physician before beginning any exercise program. You should be in good physical condition and be able to participate in the exercises conducted in the class.
If you are new to class or need special accommodations, we highly recommend you arrive to the studio 10 minutes prior and speak with the instructor in person. Additionally if you need assistance with equipment, such as wrapping your hands or setting up your cycling bike, we also recommend to arrive 10 minutes prior to the start of class.
If you have opted-in to receive notifications from MINDBODY at the time your account was created, once you have been registered for a Group Exercise class, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address associated with the account. This process is the same for cancelations. Additionally, you may sign up for SMS confirmation messages or check your schedule through the MINDBODY app or through the SRC Rec & Wellness Portal. To check your account notifications settings, please log into your MINDBODY account and look under your profile settings.
Once you have successfully registered for a class, make sure to check in at the Total Training Zone desk and pick up a GX class pass. This step is required, and can be done as early as one hour before the class start time and no later than 10 minutes prior.
Failure to check in and claim your pass 10 minutes prior to the class start time will result in you automatically forfeiting your registered spot. To re-enroll in the class you will be required to wait in the standby line for potential remaining availability. Passes will not be issued once the class has started, no exceptions.
Although online registration is available to SRC members, we require every participant to check in at the Total Training Zone desk to retrieve a GX class pass before arriving to the studio. This process allows us to have accurate attendance records and also identifies available space for those waiting in the standby line.
Your GX class pass should be given to the instructor prior to the start of the class. Make sure to keep the pass in a secure place. If you happen to lose the GX class pass before arriving to the class, please notify the staff located at the Total Training Zone desk. They will be happy to issue a replacement.
No. Passes will not be issued once the class has started, no exceptions. Additionally, all participants need to arrive to the studio with their GX class pass by the class start time.
Yes. Just make sure to check into both classes when you arrive at the Total Training Zone desk. You will receive two separate passes that must be given to the instructor prior to the start of each class.
Not able to attend the class you registered for? No problem. You can easily cancel your registration through the SRC Rec & Wellness Portal, MINDBODY app or in-person at the Total Training Zone.
As a courtesy to your fellow SRC members, we request that all last minute cancelations be completed no later than 10 minutes prior to the class start time. Failure to comply with the cancelation guidelines may result in temporary loss of online registration privileges.
