Personal Training

The Student Recreation Center of the University Student Union is excited to offer SRC Members one-on-one personal training sessions with professional trainers who are committed to making sure you get the best out of every workout. With the help of a Personal Trainer in-person at the SRC, you’ll have a program that is unique to you and your personal fitness goals.

Personal Training Fees

SRC staff are ready to perform a range of fitness assessments to determine your body mass index, heart rate, blood pressure, and aerobic fitness level. In addition, wellness information is offered to help you stay healthy while performing to the best of your abilities.

Each one-on-one appointment is conducted by a personal trainer and is personalized to incorporate your specific goals, interests and needs.

Each session is 55 minutes. Sign up at the front desk.

Free 30 minute brief evaluation of one’s personal fitness. Basic body composition measurements will be taken.

Free 30 minute overview of the fitness equipment in all fitness areas in the SRC. Small groups of three to six.

American Red Cross CPR, AED and First Aid Training

Get American Red Cross Certified for CPR, AED and First Aid in Only One Day

Would you like to learn true lifesaving skills in just one day? The Student Recreation Center of the University Student Union (USU) is offering classes throughout the semester to get you certified in CPR, AED and First Aid. For just $59 per person, you’ll receive hands-on training that will prepare you to recognize and respond appropriately to a variety of cardiac, breathing and first aid emergencies. This program will teach the skills you need to know to provide immediate care to a suddenly injured or ill adult, child or infant until more advanced medical personnel arrive and take over. Plus, this is an affordable and accessible option for fellow Matadors who need this certification to graduate.

All American Red Cross classes will be held on select Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. at the USU. Each class is limited to 10 participants. You’ll be provided with workshop equipment including manikins, AEDs (automated external defibrillators), disposable gloves and masks in person.

Reserve an Event Space at the SRC

To reserve your desired meeting or event space within the Student Recreation Center—including the Turf Field, Oasis Wellness Center and Plaza Pool—please submit your request through the Mazévo portal or contact the USU Reservations office at (818) 677 – 3644. Please note that all events must be recreation, fitness or wellness-based.

  • Located on the second floor of the SRC. 
  • Includes three (3) full-length basketball courts. 
  • The maximum capacity of the space is 348. Each individual court has a capacity of 114.
  • Features natural lighting for a well-lit space, retractable basketball backstops and curtain dividers for privacy. 
  • One full court is equipped with an adjustable rim height for youth basketball. 
  • Typical activities that can be held in this space are basketball and volleyball. 
  • Provides ample space for team practices, pick-up games or tournaments.
  • Only two (2) courts maximum per reservation.
  • Space is not conducive for large groups of spectators.

  • Located on the second floor of the SRC. 
  • Includes one (1) full-length basketball court, two (2) half-size basketball courts, volleyball court and badminton courts.
  • Multi-activity court that is conducive for activities such as badminton, volleyball, indoor soccer, basketball and dodgeball. 
  • The maximum capacity of the space is 252. Each individual court has a capacity of 126. 
  • Features retractable basketball backstops, curtain divider for privacy, multi-leveled bleacher-style spectator seating and box seating for teams. 
  • Provides ample space for team practices, pick-up games or tournaments.

  • Located on the first floor of the SRC, next to the Total Training Zone. 
  • Includes floor to ceiling mirrored walls, dance barres and an AV system for music.
  • The maximum capacity for this space is 65.
  • Typically used for group exercise classes such as yoga, Zumba and HIIT training. 
  • Provides ample space for dance practices.

  • 18,000 square-foot space adjacent to the SRC building which contains the Rec Pool and the Rec Pool deck event area. 
  • Pool is four (4) feet deep and 25 yards across. 
  • The maximum capacity for the pool is 370. The maximum capacity for the Rec Pool deck event area is 204. 
  • Rec Pool has lane swimming on one end and open recreation on the other end. The pool also has an ADA chair lift.
  • Our Wibit inflatable obstacle course is also available for individuals to use on the open recreation swimming side. 
  • The Rec Pool deck is equipped with cabanas, pool chairs for lounging and speakers surrounding the space for music. 
  • Typically used for lap swimming, open recreation swimming and swim lessons. 
  • The entire Rec Pool cannot be rented out. A portion must remain available for open recreation.

  • 130,000 square-foot space located outside the east end of the SRC building and adjacent to Zelzah Avenue.
  • Includes two (2) half fields for separate games, soccer goals, bleacher seating and a quality sports lighting system for evening/night activities. 
  • Typically used for soccer, flag football, softball and frisbee. 
  • Provides ample space for team practices, pick-up games and tournaments.

  • Located below the USU Computer Lab, next to the Plaza Pool
  • Activities include: retreats, meditation, yoga, and wellness workshops

  • Upon submission, allow up to three (3) business days for processing.

Lockers

Lockers at the Student Recreation Center

Need a spot to store your gear while you work out? The SRC provides secure lockers for your personal use so you can hit the gym knowing your belongings are safe! Full size, quarter size, half size, and ADA (reserved for those that meet qualifications) half size lockers are available for day use in the locker rooms on a first come, first serve basis. All full-size lockers are for day use only. Lockers are available for rent on a term basis for members with a term membership.

Towels

Towels are required in all Fitness Zones but don’t worry, the SRC has got you covered! Workout size towels are available free of charge, just pick one up at the Pro Shop or any of the Fitness Zone counters. Towel service is available for pool/shower-size towels for a small fee. Enrollment into the towel service can be done at the Membership Services Desk or the Pro Shop. Towel service is available on a term basis for members with a term membership. Please see the full list of rules and regulations for towels below.

Accessibility accommodation can be found in all locations within the SRC, from the Studios, to the bleacher seating of the Red Ring Courts, all three training zones, the locker rooms, and the Rec Pool.
