Matty's Closet

Matty’s Closet is dedicated to empowering CSUN students by providing them with career-ready clothing. Established in the fall of 2019, our mission is to enhance student confidence and readiness for interviews and workplace environments through a curated selection of donated, gently used, and new attire. We aim to support every student by offering not only a complete outfit but also valuable guidance on selecting workplace attire that aligns with their body type and personal style. By fostering a sense of competence and self-assurance, Matty’s Closet contributes to students' success in their career journey.

Matadors Will Benefit by

• Gaining knowledge of proper work-ready attire and receiving a complete outfit for occasions like interviews, networking events, and presentations.
• Understanding how to choose attire suited to their body type and workplace identity.
• Building confidence in their job search process and overall success.

• Visit us during drop-ins and partner with our stylists and staff to find the best outfit for your needs.
• Try it on in our convenient fitting rooms
• Yours to keep – all clothing is freshly pressed and ready to wear

Currently enrolled students are eligible for Matty’s Closet workplace-ready clothing and resources. Students are provided with workplace-ready clothing outfit(s), interview preparation, career center job search resources, and guidance on making future clothing decisions that fit their body type and clothing preferences.

Donation Criteria

Acceptable workplace-ready donations include dry cleaned or prewashed, gently used, no stains and smoke free items.

Matty’s Closet is in need of the following items:

• Men’s button-down shirts
• Women’s tops (no sheer materials, no tank tops, modest neckline)
• Skirts (that ends below the knee)
• Blazers
• Pants
• Dresses

Non-acceptable items include:

• Undergarments
• Bathing Suits
• Sweatpants or sweatshirts
• Costumes (Human or Animal)
• Prom dresses, gala dresses or formal gowns
• Worn-out or excessively used items
• Shoes (only new)
