At the CSUN Career Center, we believe that career support doesn’t end at graduation. Whether you’re a recent graduate or seasoned alum, we offer valuable resources to help you rise in your career and stay competitive in the job market. Explore our career services, professional development opportunities, and exclusive tools designed to support you at every stage of your journey.
Career Services for Recent CSUN Alumni
Graduating is just the beginning of your professional journey. Recent CSUN graduates have access to Career Services within one full year from graduation to in-person and virtual services. During this time, alumni can take advantage of:
- Career Counseling - up to 3 sessions, 50-minute career counseling sessions with a Career Counselor to discuss career planning, job search coaching and resources.
- Drop-in Career Advising - up to 5 sessions, 15-minute drop-in sessions with a Career Peer Educator for resume reviews and brief career questions.
- On-Campus Interviews are offered at the company's discretion, and priority will be awarded to currently enrolled CSUN students.
To access these services, register on CareerLink and complete your Handshake profile.
CAREER SERVICES FOR ALUMNI BEYOND 1 YEAR POST-DEGREE
CSUN alumni can continue to expand their career growth beyond the first year of graduation. The following career services are available to ALL alumni to in-person and virtual services including:
- Handshake – complete your alumni profile to access job postings and virtual career resources.
- CareerLink – complete your alumni profile to gain access to the virtual career planning platform
- Alumni Specific Programming & Events – Stay connected with industry professionals through networking events, career panels as events become available.

Below are common questions about alumni career services:

One year of access to services during the first year after receiving your degree.

The year begins when you receive your degree and ends the same month the following year.
- Graduates can receive career counseling and advice by email, phone, and Zoom.

On Handshake, you can see job postings and attend virtual employer events.
To receive any service, you will need a Handshake profile.

Enter your CSUN portal ID and Password
Handshake is a valuable resource for CSUN alumni. Whether you are job hunting, exploring career paths, or networking with employers, follow the steps below based on your Handshake account status:
If You Already Have a Handshake Account:

Log in with your CSUN Portal credentials
Visit https://csun.joinhandshake.com and use your CSUN login credentials. -
Need to Reset Your Password?
Go to CSUN IT's Forgot Your Password page to reset your login information. -
Update Your Email in Handshake
After logging in, update your primary email address in your Handshake profile to a personal, non-CSUN email.
This ensures continued access after your CSUN email is deactivated.
If You Do NOT Have a Handshake Account:
1. Email the Career Center
Send an email to the CSUN Career Center with the following information:
- Your full name
- The personal email address you'd like to use for Handshake o Your student ID number
- Your student ID number
1. If you do not remember your CSUN ID number, contact Enrollment Services at admissions.records@csun.edu.
2. Wait for Account Creation
The Career Center will verify your alumni status and create a Handshake account for you using the email address you provided. You'll receive login instructions once it's set up.
