This program allows student assistants and supervisors to learn skills that future employers are looking for. Through the 3-month program, student assistants will:
- Engage in an online course
- Meet with peer mentors
- Access to a designated career advisor
- Learn from CSUN alumni who were student assistants
We’re now implementing a semester model! The Fall 2025 Cohort starts in early September and ends in early December. The Spring 2026 Cohort starts late January and ends in early May.
To participate in this program, a CSUN Student Employee must:
- Be employed by CSUN for the semester of participation.
- Be willing to complete 10 self-paced Canvas modules, 1 career advising session, attend 2 alumni networking events, and discuss progress at monthly check-ins with their supervisor within the semester.
Upon completion of the program, students will earn a Canvas E-Badge to add to their Resume/LinkedIn profiles and receive an invitation to be recognized at our Career Center End-of-Year Event in May! Supervisors will also have the opportunity to participate in our Career Champions E-Badge Program.
A supervisor (CSUN Staff or Faculty) must complete the following registration form to enroll themselves and their student employees: FHTC Registration 25-26. Graduate student assistants and Fall graduates are welcome to apply!
- Monthly Check-Ins with Your Supervisor – Apply career fundamentals, enhance your professional development, and learn how to make the most of your on-campus position.
- Alumni Networking Opportunities - Learn from CSUN alumni who used their on-campus employment to help them pursue their career goals.
- Online Resources Engagement - Our program encourages you to explore a variety of online resources. These tools empower you to stay informed about industry trends, polish your skills, and stay ahead in an ever-evolving job market.
- Minimal Time Investment - Engaging with the program takes only about an hour each month, seamlessly fitting into your job duties and professional growth plans.
- Access to Skill Toolbox – As supervisors, you gain access to a toolbox of information and workshops. These resources equip you with insights to engage your student assistants in meaningful, career-focused conversations and be effective mentors.
- Career Center End-of-Year Celebration – Culminating event that celebrates students' and supervisors' engagement in the program. Participants receive their certificates and FHTC cords for successfully completing all program requirements.
From Here to Career not only aims to support students in their on-campus positions but also supports Staff and Faculty as they take on the Supervisor role for student assistants.
From Here to Career offers support by:
- Providing a structured professional development program, you can implement as part of your student employee’s position.
- Providing access to CareerLink’s Supervisor Toolkit.
- Providing Supervisor Orientation and Training sessions.
- Providing an opportunity for supervisors to build community and exchange best practices.
Supervisors must conduct 30-minute monthly check-ins with their student employee(s) to further discuss learning and development. A set of suggested prompts is provided to guide these career-focused conversations with your student employee(s).
If you are ready to take advantage of From Here to Career and integrate this program as a part of your student's job duties and professional development, please complete the following form: FHTC Registration 25-26.”

-
The Spring 2026 Cohort will open mid-November until Friday, February 6, 2026.
How many student employees can I register?
-
We have a student-to-supervisor ratio of 3-to-1. Supervisors can only enroll a maximum of 3 student employees each semester they are directly supervising in order to ensure the quality of the monthly required supervisor check-ins. This will also allow other departments to participate.
How many students are eligible to participate in the program for each semester?
-
Each semester our program capacity is 50 student participants.
Can students register themselves for the program?
-
No, direct supervisors must enroll along with their student employee(s) by filling out our official registration form.
I am interested in the program, but currently do not have any student employees to enroll. What should I do?
-
Please fill out our FHTC Interest Form 25-26 so that we can stay in touch for the next recruitment cycle!
What are the requirements for students to successfully complete the program and earn their Canvas E-Badges?
-
Complete 10 self-paced Canvas modules (asynchronously)
-
Attend 2 alumni networking events
-
Attend 1 career advising session
-
Complete monthly check-ins with their supervisor
Are there specific meeting dates students will need to attend?
-
The required modules are done asynchronously and are self-paced to accommodate student employees' busy schedules (we estimate a 1-2 hour time commitment a month), along with events and advising sessions. Our team meets students where they’re at and is here to support every student to complete the program with confidence!
