President & Vice President

Katie Karroum

Katie Karroum | Slate: Key to the Matador
Hello Matadors! I am Katie Karroum, and I am humbly seeking your support as I run for the position of Associated Students President. If elected, I will be committed to prioritizing the
elevation and recognition of cultural and identity-based groups. I will work diligently with campus leaders to foster strong connections with student advocates, facilitate meaningful dialogue and actions on issues that impact diverse communities, and bridge AS more closely with the student body. My main goal is to ensure that every student's voice is not only heard but also acted upon, from dining to affordable parking to comprehensive campus maps. Through my years of experience in AS, I gained invaluable insight into the necessity of amplifying the voices of marginalized individuals. As a Queer Arab-American woman and a commuter student, I have personally experienced and understood the unique challenges faced by minority groups on our campus. Vote KEY to the Matador to ensure tangible, positive change.

Iman Khan

Iman Khan | Slate: Key to the Matador
I am Iman Khan, and I'm running to be your next Associated Students Vice President. As a formerly “uninvolved” student, I know how important it is to feel seen on campus. I represent those who want to enhance their student experience. Having the privilege of serving my college as the Health and Human Development Senator, I have learned how to take student concerns and advocate for resolution. I am a fourth-year student pursuing a B.S. in Health Administration while working as a college and career advisor at high schools across the Valley. My passion for education stems from my desire to elevate not only myself but my community. Being a person with so many hyphens associated with their identity, I’ve learned how to navigate issues that are relative to our current environment. My priority is to ensure I am of service to all students and my goals will always be student-oriented. Through community engagement and culturally competent efforts, I know that change will be made.

Upper Division Senator

Brandon

Brandon Arenson | Slate: Key to the Matador
Hi Matadors! My name is Brandon Arenson, I’m a Junior majoring in Political Science and I’m running to be your next Associated Students Upper Division Senator. I’ve worked closely this academic year with CSUN Act Now & the Office of Community Engagement, both of which work hard to promote civic engagement and education across campus. I’ve learned a lot about what many CSUN students need in order to make their educational experience, both in and out of class, as successful & rewarding as possible. When CSUN students are on campus, they deserve to feel at home, with the best possible resources, community, and leadership alongside their education. One of my top priorities, if elected, is to expand the acceptance of EBT payment across campus, so that students are given the resources to achieve their academic goals, no matter their circumstances. I intend to contribute my experience through working on campus, alongside my connections on campus in order to turn my priorities into realities.

Lower Division Senator

Haruyuki Miyoshi

Haruyuki Miyoshi | Slate: Key to the Matador
My name is Haruyuki Miyoshi. I am a first-year student at CSUN majoring in Philosophy. I have yet to experience a lot of the campus, its services, and organizations yet I’m always finding things Matadors should be proud of. I can also tell that there is plenty of room for improvement, and to help facilitate that improvement, I am running to become a Lower Division Senator. If I am elected, I seek to foster an atmosphere in which I, as a senator, am not treated as superior to the students I am tasked to represent, but instead treated as an equal who can cooperate with students to turn their passionate voices and lived experiences into concrete action with the expertise, leadership, and collaboration of other AS members. My mission is to ensure that all our basic needs are met with minimal challenges so that our “right to education” can truly be seen as an inalienable right, and not something we must earn through merit and excessive toil.

Trin Nantawannakul

Trin Nantawannakul | Slate: Key to the Matador
Hello Matadors! My name is Trin Nantawannakul and I am running to be your next Associated Students Lower Division Senator. I am a first-year student at CSUN majoring in Mechanical Engineering. I am currently a member of the Associated Students Lobby Corps where Icontribute to voicing the needs and concerns of students at CSUN and would like to continue doing that as a senator. If elected to be your next Lower Division Senator, I will make it my top priority to increase the opportunities students have to voice their opinions on changes they would like to see at CSUN. Being in Lobby Corps this year, I can say with confidence that we have been working tirelessly for the benefit of students. However, I do believe that there can be improvements on getting to know what students of CSUN would really like to see on campus. I intend to contribute all of my current experience & knowledge, as well as time to make this a reality.

Arts, Media, Communication

Isaac

Isaac Gavino | Slate: Independent
Hey Matadors! I'm Isaac Gavino and I'm running to be your senator for the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media, and Communication. CSUN is one of the best colleges in the US for ethnic and economic diversity, but rising tuition and poor faculty working conditions threaten to halt the progress our university has made in providing quality and equitable education. Removing barriers to student success is important now more than ever, and I plan to support resources to do just that in the classroom and beyond. Within Curb College, it is my goal to promote more transparency for major and career paths, secure facility and equipment funding, and encourage collaboration within and between majors, departments, and clubs. Through positions with the Daily Sundial and CSUN's Filipino-American Student Association, I've seen firsthand the unique voice every student here has, a voice I hope to foster and affirm as your senator. Together, we can continue to grow as students and as a university.

Bella

Bella Pulliam | Slate: Key to the Matador
Hello everyone, my name is Bella Pulliam and I am running to be your next Education Senator! I am a second-year Deaf Studies major with a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies. The first time I spoke with someone who is an Associated Student Senator I found it empowering as they shared how they were able to enact change. I have the same drive to spark change within our campus, not only for the Education Department but for all at CSUN. If elected, I will keep my eyes and ears open to different students around campus. Although I may not know everyone’s needs and wants, I promise to be someone you can trust to discuss any situation being faced in order to better represent you. Assuming I know what is best for everyone gets me nowhere so I promise to ask questions and be an active listener. If I’m elected, I promise to not only do my best to represent you but to learn from every one of you. Don’t forget to vote Key to the Matador!

Jonathan

Jonathan Sher | Slate: Independent
Hello I am Jonathan Sher & I major in Computer Information Technology. I was Lower Division Senator in Associated Students previously. I am a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, having served two terms as a member on the executive board. I am running to be Senator for the College of Engineering & Computer Science because I am very passionate about advocating for the needs in my college such as improving the curriculum which is sometimes outdated given a fast pace industry when it comes to engineering and Computer Science. I want to work in the industry as Software Engineer or Data Scientist and get on well with my classmates who share similar goals. Overall I will combine my technical skills with my experience in AS to best advocate for the students in this college.

Health & Human Development

Ryan Dang

Ryan Dang | Slate: Key to the Matador
Hello Matadors! My name is Ryan Dang, and I am running to be your next Health and Human Development Senator! I am a 3rd year majoring in Kinesiology: Exercise Science. Some of the positions I currently hold are being the President of the Vietnamese Student Association, a Peer Learning Facilitator for Exercise Physiology, and a 3 WINs Fitness Instructor. With these positions, I’ve created a foundation built on leading by example I wish to serve the CSUN community with. If I am elected, I plan to create more networking and internship opportunities for students and to bridge the gap between different AAPI clubs. I believe in having opportunities available for students to apply their knowledge from the classroom to real life, and for many CSUN students, the options are either scarce or rarely promoted. I want to help create new ways for students with similar career paths to network with one another, as well as increase awareness for internship opportunities.

Hanna

Hanna Davis | Slate: Key to the Matador
Hello Matadors! My name is Hanna Davis, a third-year Creative Writing major, running to be one of your next Associated Students Humanities Senators. My college career hasn’t been the most conventional or linear. I’ve overcome difficulties ranging from starting college during COVID-19, academic probation, and changing my major to English. This has helped me understand what impact I desire to have as a Senator. I want to support students and enable them to feel they can make great progress and contribute to their community despite the obstacles they may be facing. With my background and intentions, I hope to serve students in effective and achievable ways, no matter how big or small.

Keiry Saravia

Keiry Saravia | Slate: Key to the Matador
Hello Matadors, my name is Keiry Saravia, a second-year English major, running for re-election as your College of Humanities Senator. Throughout this year I’ve been aiming towards engaging with students through AS and the College of Humanities while providing feedback to faculty and staff on the needs of students. I also created and participated in events that helped increase student engagement not only for Associated Students but also for the College of Humanities. If re-elected as the College of Humanities Senator, I would not only create more events to interact with students like the AS College of Humanities Book Fair; but also advertise more internship and employment opportunities on and off campus that are compatible with the diverse majors and minors offered through the college. I want to be more than just a leader on campus, I want to be someone you can turn to with any questions or concerns regarding anything important to you!

Joselyn Harris | Slate: Key to the Matador
Welcome to Key to the Matador! My name is Joselyn Harris, I am a junior majoring in Political Science and I’m running to be your next Social Behavioral Science Senator! I am the Vice Chief Justice in the Judicial Court, Vice President of the Pre-Law Association, and Honor Chairwoman in Phi Mu Fraternity! All three of these positions have given me well-rounded experiences in working with different types of personalities and how to accommodate their requests. If given the privilege to be your next SBS Senator, I will make it my personal goal to find connections for students who are graduating soon. For freshmen and sophomores, I want to provide information on how to determine plans after college. As a transfer student, I have been frustrated finding different resources that could have helped me if I had known them earlier. I want to be the person to show you where to find those opportunities now. Vote Key to the Matador!
