Awarded to international students in honor of previous CSUN President Harrison.

  • Currently enrolled international CSUN students
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduate students and 3.0 for graduate students

Awarded to a CSUN student who is a student parent.

Application Filing Period for General and Named AS Scholarships - March 4, 2025 through May 4, 2025

The Associated Students is the primary advocate for students at California State University, Northridge and provides excellent, meaningful programs and services designed to create and enhance a spirited, learning-focused campus environment. In an effort to support students in financing their education, the Associated Students have created this General Student Body Scholarship.

  • Open to CSUN undergraduate and graduate students who have completed at least one semester.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

In 1990, the Associated Students of California State University, Northridge established the Bruce Lawrence Schentes Memorial Scholarship for sophomore, juniors, seniors, and graduate students who demonstrate involvement in AIDS education and/or research. This scholarship is in honor of Bruce Lawrence Schentes, Director of the AIDS Speakers Bureau, an advocate dedicated to AIDS education.

  • Open to matriculated continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate involvement in AIDS education and/or research.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  •  Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

The Associated Students at California State University, Northridge established the Chris Mann Memorial Scholarship to honor Chris Mann, a Political Science major who was tragically killed in a hit-and-run accident. Chris was a dedicated student and an outgoing and friendly member of the CSUN community.

  • Open to continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students in a major under the college of social and behavioral sciences.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

David Harry Crandall was the Executive Director of the Associated Students at CSU Northridge for 19 years. David has consistently, throughout his career demonstrated a deep commitment to the development of college students, especially through the leadership opportunities afforded by Associated Students. David served as a counselor, advisor, manager, leader, friend and mentor to hundreds of Associated Students student employees and leaders.

  • I am involved in on-campus leadership activities OR; I am or will be a student employee with the Associated Students during the upcoming fall and spring semesters. Open to continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students.

The goal of Associated Students Diane Hartjen Scholarship Program is to support California Community College Transfer Students who enroll or are currently enrolled at California State University, Northridge and admitted to the Accountancy Program within the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics for the upcoming academic year. Preference will be given to newly matriculated students and students from Glendale Community College.

  • Must be at the undergraduate level and pursuing a baccalaureate degree.
  • Must have transferred from a California Community College within the last four (4) years.
  • Undergraduate continuing students must have a CSUN GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Incoming transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

The Associated Students at California State University, Northridge established the Dr. James W. Cleary and Mary Cleary Honorary Scholarship to honor Dr. James Cleary who served with distinction as President of California State University Northridge from 1969-1992. He oversaw the transition of the university from San Fernando Valley State College to the multicultural university it is today. Cleary had a hand in broadening access, equity, and diversity of the campus. He brought state and national recognition to the university through his effective leadership. He was supportive of students’ role in the governance of the university. Over the years he developed both informal and formal structures to facilitate communication with students. Mrs. Cleary was actively involved in improving the university and strengthening relations with the community. The Scholarship was created keeping in mind a graduate student who has expressed interest in becoming a university professor.

  • Open to continuing CSUN graduate students who have expressed an interest in becoming a university professor.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.
  • Graduate students must enroll in a minimum of 6 units (8 units preferred) or more during the upcoming Fall & Spring semesters.

The Associated Students at California State University, Northridge established the Dr. Karin Duran Memorial Scholarship to honor Dr. Karin Duran. She graduated from CSUN with a degree in Spanish and joined the campus community again in 1972 as a Librarian at the Oviatt Library. In 1977 she began working as a Lecturer in the Chicana/o Studies Department. Dr. Duran was an active university citizen and served in various communities, as well as an active community member who was involved in organizations in the San Fernando valley. She was deeply committed to her students and was an exemplary colleague. Dr. Duran passed away on June 11, 2010, she spent her life giving to others the gift of knowledge and the passion for curiosity.

  • Open to continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a major within the Department of Chicano and Chicana Studies.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

Dr. Susan Curzon joined the California State University, Northridge community as Dean of the Library in 1992. Her dedication to California State University, Northridge brought information technology on campus including administrative systems, the voice, video and data networks, and academic technology support. She dedicated herself to ensuring that the library was a welcoming place for students. The California State University, Northridge community has greatly benefited from Dr. Curzon’s time spent on campus, and we know her innovative leadership and work here on campus will continue to motivate students to pursue a career in Higher Education and Information Sciences. Dr. Curzon retired in December of 2010 after serving the campus and student body with dedication and faithfulness for eighteen years. The Associated Students applauds Dr. Curzon’s career here at California State University, Northridge and will award a scholarship in her honor to a student completing a B.A or M.A in English with an Option in Literature.

  • This scholarship is open to CSUN students majoring in English with an Option in Literature.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

The Associated Students at California State University, Northridge established the Dr. Terry Piper Memorial Scholarship to honor Dr. Terry D. Piper who joined the California State University Northridge community in January of 2001 as the Vice President of Student Affairs. During his tenure he worked with the Division of Student Affairs to bring it up to date with the most current practices. His progressive approach prioritized student learning and aligned the division with the University’s instructional mission. The CSUN community has greatly benefited from his time spent on campus. Dr. Piper passed away on Thursday May 13, 2010. His inspirational leadership and work at CSUN will continue to motivate students to pursue a career in Higher Education and Student Affairs. The Associated Students applauds Dr. Piper’s career here at California State University, Northridge.

  • Open to continuing CSUN graduate students completing a graduate degree within the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.
  • Graduate students must enroll in a minimum of 6 units (8 units preferred) or more during upcoming Fall and Spring semesters.

The Associated Students at California State University, Northridge established the Eric Hoggat Memorial Scholarship to honor Eric Hoggat, a Reseda High School student who passed away in his sleep after a hard game of his favorite sport, football. Eric, a senior, played Varsity football, basketball, and track all while maintaining a B+ average. In his honor, the Eric Hoggat Memorial Scholarship.

  • Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) high school graduate who participated in a team sport while there.
  • Open to continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

The Associated Students at California State University, Northridge established the Gwen and Chuck Monteleone Scholarship to honor Gwen and Chuck Monteleone. This scholarship is offered in recognition of and appreciation for Gwen Monteleone’s ten years of service as Food Service Supervisor at the Children’s Center, and Chuck’s five-plus years as Facilities Associate of the Children’s Center, and their individual and shared attention to supporting healthy marriage and family life.

  • Open to continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Applicant must be an intern or student employee at the AS Children’s Center.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

The Associated Students International Matador Scholarship will be awarded to up to 5 continuing international students at CSUN. The amount of each award will be up to $3,000.00 per student. The scholarship is not renewable. Scholarship recipients will be chosen on the basis of academic ability, financial need, and willingness to promote international student involvement at CSUN.

  • Open to continuing international CSUN students.
  • Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum CSUN GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Graduate applicants must have a minimum CSUN GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Applicants who have previously received this scholarship will not be considered.
  • Government sponsored students are not eligible to apply.

The Associated Students at California State University, Northridge established the Jackie Forsythe Scholarship to honor Jackie Forsythe, an individual who cared deeply about the well-being of children and the quality of their care. A scholarship in the amount of $500 is to be given to a currently enrolled CSUN undergraduate student who majors in Childhood and Adolescent Development, to honor Jackie’s love of infants and toddlers.

  • Applicant must be majoring in Childhood and Adolescent Development.
  • Open to continuing CSUN undergraduate students.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.

In 1983, Jennifer De La Torre was hired as the Head Teacher and subsequently the position was re-named Assistant Director of the Children’s Center. During her time at California State University, Northridge, Jennifer served as interim director of the center on at least four separate occasions. Jennifer De La Torre served CSUN student parents and their children for more than 33 years with distinction affecting thousands of lives in a most positive way. The Associated Students created this scholarship to recognize the quantity and quality of service of Jennifer De La Torre here at California State University, Northridge.

  • Must be a continuing matriculated CSUN undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

The John Paul (JP) Gale Scholarship is named in honor of John Paul Gale, a pivotal figure whose contributions shaped the success of Sport Clubs. This scholarship aims to recognize Sport Club athletes who demonstrate personal growth and leadership within their respective Sport Club. Eligibility requires applicants to have participated for at least one semester and to be listed on the current roster of a Sport Club. It is designed to honor those who embody the values and spirit of this organization.

Today, Associated Students Sport Clubs provide students an opportunity to participate in sports and recreational activities and compete against colleges and universities from across the state and country as individuals and as members of teams. Each sport clubs is student-run and strives to develop students’ leadership and athletic skills.

  • Open to matriculated continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate involvement in AS Sport Clubs.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of a least 3.0
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5

Associated Students Inc. established the Joyce Gerrity Scholarship in honor and recognition of the service to the Associated Students by Ms.Gerrity. For a quarter of a century Ms. Gerrity served as Coordinator of Administrative and Human Resources.

  • Applicant must be pursuing a degree/career in management, public administration, or education administration.
  • Open to continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

The Associated Students at California State University, Northridge established the Phyllis Perkins Scholarship to honor Phyllis Perkins, the director the the California State University, Northridge Childrens Center. She was killed in an automobile accident on the way home from work one evening. Phyllis dedicated her life to children’s education and community service. The A.S. Prefers that this award go to a student who is dedicated to children’s services and participates in volunteer activities.

  • Open to continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students who are dedicated to children’s services and participate in volunteer activities.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.

Sandra (Sandy) Abrams was the Director of the AS Children’s Center for 8 years. Sandy consistently throughout her career, demonstrated a love for children and dedication to children’s education and development. Sandy worked tirelessly throughout her tenure with AS to ensure that our Children’s Center program, it’s families and staff had access to the exemplary education and care, delivered at the highest possible level of service.

  • Must be a continuing matriculated CSUN undergraduate or graduate student.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

The Associated Students at California State University, Northridge established the Associated Students Scholarship Honoring Students who Lost their Lives in the Northridge Earthquake to recognize the toll the Northridge Earthquake had on the campus community. The January 17, 1994 Northridge Earthquake is recognized as the costliest national disaster in US history. The earthquake caused the most extensive disruption and damage to befall a university in US history. Two CSU Northridge students and one LA Valley College student perished in Northridge during the earthquake, representing a permanent loss to CSU Northridge, their families and the community. Scholarships in their names memorialize this moment into university history, recognizing that the loss of students is as tragic as the loss of University facilities. Scholarships in the names of Jamie Reyes and Manuel Sandoval are humanitarian awards from students of this university to future CSU Northridge financially need-based students.

  • Open to continuing CSUN undergraduate and graduate students who actively participate in humanitarian work.
  • Undergraduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Graduate students must have a GPA of at least 3.5.

Tom Piernik was named the Director of Involvement Development in 2013 and served as the University Advisor to the Associated Students Senate for 23 years. During his leadership on campus the New Student Orientation program TAKE program and the Matador Involvement Center were developed. The Associated Students applauds Tom Piernik’s services at California State University, Northridge by creating this scholarship in his honor.

Special consideration will be given to current or past members of TAKE and New Student Orientation.
