Trips
Registrations will be open, in-person only, at the Outdoor Adventures Rental Center on August 26th, the first day of the Fall semester.
The Outdoor Adventures Rental office will be open from 10 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday. All trips have a limited number of spots available.
Our programs are available to all current CSUN students. We have trips for every skill level, from novice to expert. The guidelines below will help you select adventures that are right for you. If you’re unsure about your skill level, call or stop by the Outdoor Adventures office, and our staff will help you.
- Level 0: Adventure travel at its most relaxed pace for people seeking a remarkable experience with low-intensity
- Level 1: Great for outdoor novices and those new to active travel who are seeking more knowledge of the outdoor world
- Level 2: Perfect for outdoor enthusiasts looking for stimulating adventure in the great outdoors
- Level 3: Recommended for fit travelers with basic skills who want an exciting trip with the same fantastic outdoor experience with a little more physical intensity
Please note that you need to sign up at the Outdoor Adventures office for our trips no later than 5pm the day before the scheduled date. Open spots fill up quickly, so sign up as early as possible.

Backpacking
Redwoods Backpacking
Date: 11/28-12/01 (Thanksgiving)
Student Price: $200
Gain valuable knowledge on the basics of backpacking, while in one of California’s most well-known homes of the Red Giants, Portola State Park. In this introductory trip you will learn how to properly pack your bag, visit beautiful viewpoints, experience how to safely filter your water, practice the "Leave no Trace" lifestyle that we practice, and so much more! This is one of the most immersive ways to experience the magnificent Redwoods at its heart.

Camp and Explore: Yosemite Facelift
Date: 9/19-9/27
Student Price: $175
As if Yosemite could become more beautiful, and help spark even more life into Yosemite National Park. You will help clean up the park along with hundreds of volunteers. You will not only help clean up the park, but there will be a raffle Saturday night and other activities alongside the event. Facelift has been an event that has been going on for the past 15 years. Be a part of history and beautify the park.

Enjoy a weekend out in Sequoia National Park! With massive sequoia trees and beautiful mountains surrounding you, Sequoia National Park is sure to be a fantastic place to explore and be disconnected from the everyday hustle and bustle. Join us for a weekend of hiking, sightseeing, and learning more about the great outdoors and camping. Great for adventurers of all experience levels.

ASL Camp and Explore: Joshua Tree
Date: 10/18-10/20

Pah! Time to get out in nature! Welcome to Joshua Tree National Park, a wonderful land of huge rocks, funky fun trees, and amazing desert dweller friends. Join us for an adventure exploring this wonderful desert from scrambling on big rocks, watching the gorgeous stary sky, and trying our best to avoid touching the cacti. Enjoy a weekend with us in this spectacular park all while connecting with folks in the signing community. This trip is open to Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing folks who are fluent in American Sign Language.

Come explore this amazing stretch of coastline and discover why Big Sur is said to be one of the most beautiful places in California. This trip begins with one of the most beautiful drives in California, up the Big Sur coast. There are panoramic coastal views, common sightings of elephant seals, and inland waterfalls that lead to the beach

Wander through the pristine wilderness of Yosemite National Park, the first park to be designated as a Green Space by the United States Government. Yosemite is filled with a lifetime’s worth of waterfalls and granite formations that fill the Valley. Come sleep out under the stars with us as we spend a weekend exploring all the major spots of California’s greatest treasure. All experience levels are welcome.

Explore one of California’s wonderous deserts known as Death Valley. The name is forbidding and gloomy. Yet here you can find colorful badlands, snow-covered peaks, beautiful sand dunes, rugged canyons, the driest and lowest spot in North America, and the hottest in the world. Enjoy the unusual little critters, magnificently tall mountains, and a night sky like no other! Come with us and have a four-day adventure, day hiking through this expansive dessert and sleeping under the stars! It will be a great way to relax after finals!

Day Hike: Mt. Baldy Challenge

Are you looking for a challenge?! Look no further! Mt. Baldy stands tall as Los Angeles's tallest peak at 10,065ft. Be ready to face 12 miles and 5,807ft elevation gain head-on. Grab your hiking shoes and attempt the challenge of summiting this classic with your fellow challengers. Recommended for adventurers who are looking for more physical intensity to complement their outdoor experience.

Day Hike: Matilija Falls

Enjoy a long day out in Los Padres National Forest in beautiful Ojai, CA, climbing over rocks and following the river as you embark on a journey towards Matilija Falls. With swimming holes throughout and fantastic views of the Chapparal landscape, this hike is one to put in the books. This hike is roughly 8.5 miles round trip with 1,302ft of elevation gain with some challenging terrain. A great hike for adventurers who have some hiking experience and are excited to bump it up a notch. Follow the cairns and stick by the river and you're sure to have an exciting day, packed to the brim with adventure.

Lace-up your boots and pack your lunch for this epic hike and shockingly refreshing swimming hole at First Falls that you'll stop at for lunch. Roughly 8 miles with 1,024ft of elevation gain, this is a great hike for any hiker who has some experience and is looking for a day to take a break from the everyday hustle and bustle and connect back to the natural world.

LA is a city where nature will surprise you. Take a night off from studying and come take a relaxing hike through one of the great green spaces around Los Angeles. There is something surreal about walking beneath a full moon with the glow of the city lighting your path. All you need is a pair of shoes and a water bottle to explore the secret, less-traveled spots of this wonderful city.

Canoe the Black Canyon

Welcome to one of the most stunning and adventure-filled trips Outdoor Adventures has to offer. Join us for a 4-day trip, paddling on the Colorado River in Black Canyon, between Arizona and Nevada where we'll canoe roughly 10 miles up and down a miraculously peaceful river to hot springs, an Emerald Cave, and even to the base of the Hoover Dam for a completely different perspective. Great for adventurers seeking to embark on a new experience while experiencing a fantastic arm workout while being gentle on their knees.

Cancellations

Multi day trip cancellations
Cancellations made more than 14 days before the trip will be refunded for the full dollar amount, minus a 20% processing fee. Cancellations made less than 14 days before the trip are not eligible for a refund. Outdoor Adventures reserves the right to cancel any trip due to incompatible conditions for the activity. In the event Outdoor Adventures cancels the trip you will receive a full monetary refund.
