These FAQs provide answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about the Certificated Prenatal Lactation Educator Training and the Comprehensive Lactation Education Training for non-CSUN students. General FAQs for Non-CSUN Students
- If you would like to become a Certificated Prenatal Lactation Educator, register for our 5-Week Certificated Prenatal Lactation Educator Training. Get more training information.
- If you would like to become an International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) register for our 10-week Comprehensive Lactation Education Training. This will count for the 95 hours lactation specific coursework necessary to be eligible to sit for the IBCLE exam. Get more training information.
- Get more information on all of the eligibility requirements for the exam to become an IBCLC.

FAQs for the LEAARC–approved Breastfeeding Course for Non-CSUN Students
Yes, participants who successfully complete CSUN’s Certificated Prenatal Lactation Educator Training will receive a certificate of course completion, allowing them to use the designation of Certificated Prenatal Lactation Educator.
Yes. Participants who successfully complete CSUN's Certificated Prenatal Lactation Educator Training course will have completed 45 of the 95 hours of the lactation-specific education IBLCE exam requirement.

The training cost is $580 plus reading material costs.
- Yes, 45 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be provided at no additional fee through our Joint Provider PAC/LAC.
- PAC/LAC is approved by the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists to sponsor continuing education for LMFT and LCSW. CE Provider #128542. PAC/LAC maintains responsibility for the program/course and its content. Course meets the qualifications for hours of continuing education credit for LCSW and LMFT as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences
- PAC/LAC, a designated provider of continuing education contact hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. This program is designed for Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) to receive Category 1 continuing education contact hours.
- PAC/LAC is an approved provider by the California Board of Registered Nursing Provider CEP 5862. This course is approved for contact hours of continuing education
No. Participants who complete CSUN’s Certificated Prenatal Lactation Educator Training will not earn units towards a bachelor’s degree. However, participants will earn 45 hours of continuing education units.
Comprehensive Lactation Education Training for Non-CSUN students FAQs
Yes, participants who successfully complete CSUN’s Comprehensive Lactation Education Training will have completed the 95 hours of lactation specific education IBLCE exam requirement.
No, to become an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant, individuals must pass the IBLCE exam. Participants who successfully complete CSUN’s Comprehensive Lactation Education Training will have completed one of the three IBLCE exam requirements: 95 hours of lactation specific education.
