Master of Arts in Music Industry Administration

The Master of Arts in Music Industry Administration degree program at California State University, Northridge is an interdisciplinary professional program for students desiring an advanced degree in Music Industry Administration. The first graduate program of its kind in the Western United States, the program is recognized as one of the top music business programs in the world according to Billboard Magazine. The alumni of the program are working in many of the top music industry companies in the world. These alumni, along with the alumni from the undergraduate Music Industry Studies program creates a valuable network of professionals that students can connect with throughout their careers.

The program is an excellent solution for professionals seeking careers in publishing, live performance, recording, music products, music in media; managing and promoting music, creative talent and music industry related businesses.

The program emphasizes analytical and strategic thinking, clear written and oral communication skills, the practice of ethical decision-making and a view of the industry from a global perspective. A spirit of collegiality among the students, faculty, and members of the Hollywood/Los Angeles Music Industry community is fostered through social and professional interactions. 

Designed to be accessible to the fully employed and mid-career professional, the average course load for the major is 6 units per semester over 21 months. With few exceptions, graduate courses are typically scheduled one night per week and every other weekend. The program curriculum is drawn from the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication and the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics, and administered as a self-supported program by the Tseng College of Extended Learning.
