CSUN offers the California Preliminary Single-Subject Credential in General Science, Biology. Chemistry, Geoscience, and Physics. The General Science credential authorizes the teaching of K-8 integrated science courses as well as introductory courses in general, life, and physical science. The Biology, Chemistry, Geoscience, and Physics Credentials authorize the teaching of these subjects, respectively, at the high-school level, in addition to authorizing the teaching of general science courses.
All Single Subject Credentials include an English Learner-ELAS level, which allows the holder to teach English learners in their subject-matter classrooms. For authorizations to teach in English Language Development (ELD), English as Second Language (ESL), or bilingual classrooms, please see our Bilingual Authorization and CTEL/CLAD Certificate Programs.
