Fall Dance Concert

Colaboratoria: Graduate Student, Alumni, and Faculty Dance Concert

Colaboratoria is the merging of a laboratory setting within the collaborative performing art form of dance. Invited guest choreographers, dance faculty, and graduate students choreograph new works for this dance concert. Dancers are auditioned early in the fall semester. Colaboratoria has been produced every fall since 2009. During the COVID pandemic in the fall of 2020 a film, Lux Aeterna, was created in lieu of performing Colaboratoria in a theater setting. This film was uploaded to the CSUNdancekin YouTube channel, along with all Colaboratoria performances since 2020.

Spring Dance Concert

Kinesis: Emerging Choreography

Kinesis: the combining of form and the sensation of movement. Kinesis features undergraduate choreographers and undergraduate dancers. Auditions take place to select dancers early in the spring semester and the choreographic works are auditioned during the third week of February. 12 – 14 dances are selected and will be produced. Kinesis has been produced every spring since 2007. During the spring of 2021, Kinesis was filmed at the Soraya center and uploaded to the CSUNdancekin YouTube channel. All subsequent Kinesis programs can be found on the YouTube channel.

Auditions for Dance Concerts

All CSUN dancers are welcome to audition for the fall and spring dance concerts and can acquire course credit if registered in DANC 426 Choreography, DANC 427 Dance Production and/or DANC 498WC Dance Concert Modes.
