Systems Engineering Research Laboratory, also known as SERL, is a research facility within Cal State Northridge geared towards students with interests in engineering and robotics. Our mission as SERL members is to improve the performance, safety, and efficiency of human-centered systems through innovative use of systems engineering analysis, human factors engineering, and information technology.

Our student researchers come from a diverse selection of majors and are here to learn, to create, acquire professional job experience, and hone their skills. Faculty mentors provide support to students with help and guidance on engineering related research and development topics.

Systems Engineering Research Laboratory (SERL) was created in June 2013 with the vision of providing and empowering undergraduate and graduate students with an interdisciplinary environment in which they can explore, learn, and go beyond current thinking to new possibilities. Through several projects, student researchers will be able to expand their knowledge and gain higher level opportunities within their careers while developing products for the betterment of humanity.
