Counseling Services
At University Counseling Services, we are here to support you and your mental health and wellness as you pursue your educational goals and academic success. We provide a range of high-quality mental health services including initial evaluations, short-term therapy, Wellness Workshops, group treatment, psychiatric services, crisis/urgent care services, and case management services.
Our services are confidential, accessible, and free to currently enrolled CSUN students. Our staff is comprised of professionally trained and caring psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and counselors, as well as advanced unlicensed psychology and social work interns (who work under close supervision of our licensed clinicians) from diverse backgrounds and cultures. They are experienced working with a wide range of collegiate mental health issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, academic performance issues, family and relationship issues, identity issues (e.g., cultural, LGBTQIA+, religious, etc.), trauma, etc.
Students sometimes believe or worry that their concerns are “not serious enough” to seek professional support. We always tell students that there is “no issue too big or too small” that should keep them from speaking with one of our therapists. We strive to help prevent smaller problems or issues from becoming big ones, to intervene quickly in a crisis, to help students return to their usual level of functioning as soon as possible, and/or connect students with ongoing services they may need to work through more complex or longstanding issues.
We are here to support you.
