Associate Degree for Transfer Students

Two programs can help you transfer from one of the California Community Colleges (CCC) to the California State University (CSU) and complete your bachelor's degree in a timely and cost-effective way. The programs are:

  1. Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT)
  2. California Promise Two-Year Pledge Program

Learn more below.

Where are you in your transfer journey?

  • Just beginning at a CCC? Discover the benefits of an ADT and explore your transfer options.
  • Considering an ADT? Find out which majors are accepted for transfer at CSUN and other participating four-year universities.
  • Already started an ADT pathway? Make sure the CSU you plan to attend accepts your major as a “like major” for transfer.

IMPORTANT: ADT applicants, please also review CSUN Transfer Admissions.

The Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT) is designed to help California community college students transfer to California State University (CSU) schools. Unlike regular AA or AS degrees, the Associate in Art for Transfer (AA-T) and the Associate in Science for Transfer (AS-T) degrees come with certain benefits.

ADT Benefits at CSUN

If you meet CSUN's upper-division transfer admission eligibility requirements and earn a verified AA-T or AS-T degree that matches a major at CSUN, you will:

  • Receive priority admission consideration even when a CSUN major is impacted.*
  • Enter CSUN with junior standing, ready for upper-division course work.
  • Be able to complete the transfer major in 60 more semester units as long as you do not change your major.
  • Receive priority registration each semester.

* Learn more at CSUN Transfer Impaction.

As a student with a verified AA-T or AS-T degree who also meets the CSU’s upper-division transfer admission eligibility requirements, you are guaranteed admission to a CSU though not necessarily to a particular campus or major.
