Learn about LGBTQIA+ struggles, accomplishments and history with an interdisciplinary minor in queer studies.
Why Minor in Queer Studies?
Queer studies is an interdisciplinary field of study that emerged from activism.
No matter what major or career you pursue, learning LGBTQ+ history, theories and concepts can enhance your overall education. Including a Queer Studies minor can help you think more deeply about your sense of self and your relationship to others.
Many of the struggles LGBTQ+ communities face today are long-standing issues. Knowing more about the root causes of these disparities in areas like housing, jobs, education and rights can help you think about ways to advocate for change today.

The Queer Studies program allows you choose courses that interest you. You'll take core courses and elective courses to complete the minor. They'll prepare you to work with LGBTQ+ communities and issues.
An Academic Home
Queer studies at CSUN provides an academic home for those who wish to study the intellectual, cultural and material conditions that have shaped our current understandings of sexuality and gender variation as well as for those who wish to generate new, resistant theories and practices. The program also organizes lecture series and brings together interested students, faculty, and members of the larger Los Angeles community.
