Proctoring Services
The Testing Center offers proctoring services for candidates participating in distance-learning programs and correspondence degree programs as well as professionals who need certification in their field. We offer both paper- and computer-based testing.
The Testing Center is a member of the NCTA Proctoring Network, a referral service provided by the National College Testing Association (NCTA), which supports distance learning, and we abide by the NCTA Professional Standards and Guidelines.
Requesting a Proctor
Please coordinate with your school or agency to meet the requirements for each test that you need proctored. The Testing Center will complete all necessary proctor paperwork. We advise you to initiate the process at least one week before your anticipated appointment. (Candidates must make an appointment. We do not accept walk-ins.)
Required Steps for Requesting a Proctor
- Ask your instructor to complete our Proctoring Services Form.
- Once the form has been received, call the Testing Center at (818) 677-2369 to schedule an appointment.
- Testing space is limited. Please schedule an appointment at least five to seven days in advance. During finals week, space is even more limited, particularly for computer-based tests. Schedule an appointment as soon as possible to ensure you will be able to take your test.
- Arrange for your exam materials to be sent to the CSUN Testing Center.
- After we receive your exam materials, we will send you an email confirmation one week before with details about your exam appointment.
- Note that in order for us to keep your testing appointment, we must receive your exam materials by noon PT the day before your appointment.
Submitting Exam Materials Based on Type
The Testing Center must receive exams from the originating college, university, agency or instructor at least one day before your scheduled appointment. The exam can be emailed to testing.center@csun.edu, or sent to:
California State University, Northridge
Testing Center
18111 Nordhoff St.
Northridge, CA 91330-8240
Attn: Charity Chia, Test Officer
Once you have requested the exam materials to be sent, please allow three to five business days before scheduling an exam appointment. Arrange for your campus or agency to include a prepaid, self-addressed return envelope. Otherwise, you are responsible for postage fees.
Send email correspondence from another college, university or agency detailing the computer-based exam instructions to testing.center@csun.edu. Please copy Charity Chia at cchia@csun.edu to ensure receipt of exam materials.
The CSUN Testing Center does not allow students to use their own devices while testing. If your exam requires you to use your own device, please find an alternate location. We will not be able to administer your exam. All computer-based exams must be delivered via the Testing Center's computers.

Visitor Policy
While we recognize that candidates need to have a support system in place, visitors are not allowed in the Testing Center exam rooms. Visitors may wait outside, in the reception area or in the hallway, where benches and chairs are available. Children are not permitted in the test rooms and may not be left unattended while a candidate takes an exam.
Exam Retention Policy
