Our Mission
The CSUN Testing Center contributes to educational access, student success and community enrichment through the administration of placement, proctored, professional and instructional testing in adherence with the National College Testing Association’s Professional Standards and Guidelines. We serve students, faculty and the community with a commitment to accessibility, equity and integrity.
CSUN's Testing Center has been certified by the National College Testing Association (NCTA) since May 2014. CSUN's Testing Center is a proud member of the NCTA Proctoring Network, which supports distance learning.

Promoting Academic Integrity
CSUN's Testing Center identifies academic integrity as the commitment to certain core values: truth, honesty, fairness, respect and responsibility.
Academic integrity is promoted by:
- Conducting testing in a supervised, distraction-free environment.
- Selecting qualified test proctors dedicated to protecting the integrity of the tests.
- Maintaining test security.
- Staff members who are trained to administer and monitor tests.
- Instructors who believe integrity is essential.
- Providing increased credibility to online courses.

Student Assistant Position
Position Description:
The Testing Center is responsible for coordinating assessment and testing activities across the University. The Testing Center student assistant assists with testing services offered at the Testing Center. The Testing Center student assistant also serves as an ambassador of the Testing Center and assists with completing daily administrative processes while collaborating with Testing Center staff to provide services to students, faculty, and staff.
Qualifications
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA (semester and cumulative) and good academic standing with the university.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a diverse environment.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects at one time.
- Must be friendly, approachable, trustworthy, team and goal oriented.
- Must be able to adapt, manage time and problem solve.
- Leadership skills: must be professional, self-motivated, an independent thinker and flexible.
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Support Testing Center operations, including answering phones, emails, responding to inquiries/questions and performing initial welcome of candidates.
- Maintain cleanliness of Testing Center.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the Testing Center.

Salary
Starts at $16.50 per hour
Days/Hours
Must be available to work Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (Schedule will vary with maximum of 20 hours per week based on semester course schedule.) Must commit to work a full academic year.

Testing Officer

Charity Chia directs development and operations for CSUN's Testing Center, which promotes access and continuing education. She has worked at CSUN for more than 20 years, 16 years as the Testing Officer. Ms. Chia earned her bachelor's degree in Accounting from Truman State University in Missouri.
