CSU System-wide Time, Place and Manner Interim Policy

CSUN and the CSU support and promote the freedom of expression and assembly by students, faculty, staff and the general public on its campus. The CSU Systemwide Time, Place and Manner Policy seeks to facilitate freedom of expression while protecting the right of students and employees to learn and work in a safe environment free of disruptions that interfere with the instructional, administrative and other operations of the university.

CSU System-wide and University Policies and Procedures Concerning the Use of University Property are provided below.

  • CSU System-wide Interim Time, Place and Manner Policy is effective immediately for students and non-represented employees. All campuses of the CSU are required to adhere to system-wide polices concerning the time, place and manner of permitted and prohibited activities on CSU campuses.
  • CSUN Interim Addendum is effective immediately for student and non-represented employees. This addendum provides supplemental information specific to CSUN and is a requisite of the CSU System-wide Interim Time, Place and Manner Policy.
  • CSUN Interim Time, Place and Manner Policy of August 28, 2017 The existing university Time, Place, and Manner policy will continue to apply to union represented employees until the unions have completed bargaining. The Systemwide Time, Place, Manner policy will apply to all employees following the conclusion of bargaining.

Scheduling Use of University Property

Access to and use of designated University Property must be scheduled and registered in advance. Detailed information regarding scheduling procedures for reservable spaces are provided below.

  • Scheduling & Registration Procedures
    Various campus locations may be reserved through the offices identified in the CSUN Interim Addendum (see above). Use of University Property for commercial purposes is prohibited unless prior written permission has been obtained from the University. Students and members of the campus community should contact the Matador Involvement Center for assistance. Non-affiliates (i.e., other than students and employees) should contact University Licensing for assistance.
