DeafBlind Interpreting
Communication services to individuals who are DeafBlind include: tactile, palm printing, up-close signing, copy signing.
Real-time transcribing is a method of using specialized software to convert spoken language into text. Students are able to read the transcript real-time on a laptop, tablet or their own personal device through a weblink. After each class, students will receive a transcript after each class for their review.
Taking notes in the classroom can be a challenge for those who rely primarily on sight for communication. The NCOD: Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services provides an opportunity for students in the classroom to be notetakers for their deaf and hard of hearing classmates.
The benefit for becoming a Notetaker will be Priority Registration for the following Fall/Spring semester only (priority registration appointment dates will be during the early stage of the "Registration by Appointment" registration period). Note - Notetakers provide services during the Fall and Spring semesters only.
