The Minor in Religious Studies

Why minor in Religious Studies?

Are you someone who loves taking Religious Studies classes, but cannot fit in the classes necessary for a major or double-major? Then the minor in Religious Studies is for you! At CSUN you can have up to two majors and two minors, so this could be a great addition to your academic plans.

Similar to our major, the Religious Studies minor provides an intercultural and multi-disciplinary liberal arts education that can pair well with many majors. A minor in Religious Studies can help you stand out in job interviews and graduate school applications, especially if you are majoring in a field outside of the Humanities. It also improves your reading, writing, discussion, and analytical skills.

A minor in RS consists of six units of lower division and twelve units of upper division credit. With approval of the department advisor, students may apply an Experimental Topics course (RS

Choose from any upper division Religious Studies courses through consultation with an advisor. One upper division course (3 units) in Jewish Studies (JS) will count toward RS electives. Consult with the department chair for approval.
