Advisement
The Department of Philosophy helps students select the program and courses that best satisfy their individual needs and interests.
To set up an Advisement Appointment, you can book directly with our Department Chair Kristina Meshelski (book here) or our Associate Chair Robin Muller (book here).
Alternatively, you can contact the Main Office [e: philosophy@csun.edu, ph: 818-677-2757] for information on their drop-by Office Hours.
NOTE: Office Hours are only available during a Fall/Spring semester.
The Humanities Student Services Center/EOP reviews students progress to ensure that the requirements of a Major or Minor in Philosophy are fulfilled. Call (818) 677-4784 or (818) 677-4767 to schedule an appointment with the Student Services Center/EOP.
CSUN EOP can offer further assistance.
Pre-Law advising is available through the Department of Political Science.
If you are a Philosophy major interested in graduate school in Philosophy or another field in the Humanities, reach out to Prof. Robin Muller to discuss your goals. Or, read our information page here.
Good news! In most cases, you don't need an appointment to add, drop, or change your Major or Minor. Just follow the steps below:
- Request the change online in the SOLAR Student Center.
- An appropriate academic advisor or administrator will review your request.
- You will receive a notice of the decision by email. You can also check the status of your request online, or contact Student Services Center/EOP for update at (818) 677-4784 or (818) 677-4767.
Once you've added the major or minor (or if you're planning to do so), we'd be happy to meet with you to talk about your plans and make sure you stay on track.
