Covid-19 Policies

Both scheduled and walk-in appointments held in our physical location on campus (Sierra Tower 535) must follow campus COVID-19 protocols.

Tutoring for non-listed courses

Our services center on lower-division Philosophy courses, especially those satisfying the General Education requirements. If you'd like help with a different course (e.g., an upper-division GE or major course), please e-mail the tutoring coordinator. We'll do our best to set you up with a tutor!

Advanced booking policy

Please note that all online appointments must be booked at least 2 hours in advance. For last-minute appointments, tutors are available on a walk-in basis. See the tutoring schedule for staffed hours if you would like a walk-in appointment (note that we also offer virtual walk-in appointments).

Maximum bookings policy

The Tutoring Center policy is that students may schedule a maximum of two half-hour appointments per day, per course. Appointments scheduled through the booking system in excess of the limit may be cancelled by the tutoring coordinator.

Policies for tutoring sessions

Our Department's service is meant to supplement, not replace those offered by the University Writing Center. While our tutors can provide helpful, informed feedback on the structure and clarity of your written arguments, what differentiates our service is that tutors have the relevant expertise to help you understand and express complex philosophical ideas. If your concerns have to do with the clarity of your writing or language-proficiency, rather than with understanding and expressing philosophical ideas, please visit the Writing Center instead (or in addition).
