Teaching & Learning Approach

Courses in the CSUN MHA program are designed to help you actively apply what you learn to real-world healthcare leadership. Faculty use a variety of teaching strategies that encourage engagement, critical thinking, and collaboration.

You’ll learn through:

  • Case studies and consulting projects
  • Team-based assignments and presentations
  • Guest speakers and interactive class discussions
  • Reflective learning and field-based experiences
  • Lectures, readings, and online modules

You’ll be assessed through:

  • Written papers and project reports
  • Exams and class participation
  • Journals and experiential reflections
  • Feedback on presentations and team contributions

This approach prepares you to build and demonstrate the core competencies expected of healthcare leaders.

Grading and Academic Expectations

MHA students are expected to demonstrate strong academic performance and professional integrity throughout the program. Course grades reflect your understanding of the material, your ability to apply key concepts, and your contributions to individual and team-based work.

CSUN uses a letter grade system for graduate students and a minimum 3.0 GPA is required to remain in good standing and graduate. Faculty provide rubrics and feedback to help you grow and improve.
