Individualized Learning
The Teacher Induction Education Specialist Credential program provides mentoring and support for beginning special education teachers through Individualized Learning Plans (ILP). These are designed to strengthen your professional practice through self-assessment, goal setting and reflection.
Multiple Paths
This credential is offered in several areas of specialized education, including:
- Deaf and hard of hearing
- Early childhood special education
- Mild/moderate disabilities
- Moderate/severe disabilities
What You'll Learn
As a first-year teacher, you will receive mentoring and guidance while learning innovative approaches.
You'll complete four induction courses centered around your ILP and two courses designed to build on skills you acquired through your preliminary credential. There are three options for completing the Teacher Induction Education Specialist Credential program:
- Induction credential only
- Combined induction credential/M.A.
- Early completion
In the moderate/severe disabilities option, you'll learn how to create curriculum and work with special education stakeholders. Exploring the latest literacy and math teaching theories approaches for children with disabilities will strengthen your education abilities. You'll also gain the skills to offer the right behavioral support to children to moderate/severe disabilities.
In the mild/moderate disabilities option, you'll learn how to create curriculum and work with special education stakeholders. Exploring the latest literacy and math teaching theories approaches for children with disabilities will strengthen your education abilities. You'll also gain the skills to offer the right behavioral support to children to mild/moderate disabilities.
In the early childhood special education option, you'll learn how to design curriculum and work with special education stakeholders. Exploring the latest alternative communication approaches and assistive technology will strengthen you as an educator. You'll also gain the skills to offer the right behavioral support to special needs children at the start of their education journey.
In the deaf and hard of hearing option, you'll learn how to design curriculum and work with special education stakeholders. Exploring the latest augmented communication approaches and assistive technology will strengthen you as an educator. You'll also gain the skills to offer the right behavioral support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing students with a foundation to set them up for success.
