Position Description:
The Testing Center is responsible for coordinating assessment and testing activities across the University. The Testing Center student assistant assists with testing services offered at the Testing Center, including exam proctoring. The Testing Center student assistant also serves as an ambassador of the Testing Center and assists with daily institutional test administration, including national and professional exams, completing administrative processes as needed while collaborating with Testing Center staff to provide services to students, faculty, and staff.
Qualifications
- Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA (semester and cumulative) and good academic standing with the university.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a diverse environment.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects at one time.
- Must be friendly, approachable, trustworthy, team and goal oriented.
- Must be able to adapt, manage time and problem solve.
- Leadership skills: must be professional, self-motivated, an independent thinker and flexible.
Specific Job Responsibilities
- Support Testing Center operations, including answering phones, emails, scheduling appointments, responding to inquiries/questions and performing initial check-in of candidates.
- Must be able to complete required trainings and certifications to administer on-site and weekend institutional, national, and professional exams as needed according to NCTA Professional Standards and Guidelines and Testing Center protocol.
- Maintain confidential data.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the Testing Center.

Starts at $15.00 per hour
Days/Hours
Must be available to work Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (Schedule will vary with maximum of 20 hours per week based on semester course schedule.) Must commit to work a full academic year.

General Information:
Provide pre-college advisement to high school students participating in the Upward Bound program. Upward Bound is a federally funded TRiO program that seeks to increase the number of first generation and low-income students that successfully enroll in post secondary institutions.
Duties:
- Under the supervision of the administrative assistant and project director, provide clerical support to the Upward Bound program.
- Assist in the daily tasks, including but not limited to; typing and distributing correspondence, answering the phone and directing calls, filing, copying, data entry, translation of documents from English to Spanish, prepare bulk mailings, compile data and retrieve reports.
- Assist staff in preparation for activities and workshops.
Qualifications:
- Must be a current student, sophomore and/or junior, in good academic standing
- Knowledge of commonly used Microsoft (MS) software
- Knowledge of basic office procedures and the operation of office machines (i.e. fax and copier)
- Able to establish positive working relationships with staff and student assistants
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be able to manage multiple projects at one time
- Must be proactive, maintain confidentiality, reliable, responsible, self-directed, and detail oriented
- Bilingual skills preferred (English – Spanish)
- Must be friendly, punctual, professional, and a quick learner
- Must be able to attend mandatory trainings once a month on Friday afternoons
- Must be able to work at least four consecutive hours at a time and commit to full August-May academic year.

Purpose:
The mission of Upward Bound is to promote access to higher education by providing guidance and support to first generation and/or low income students. UB serves approximately 65 parents and students in the San Fernando Valley.
Classification: III
Wage: Wages start at $10.50 per hour and are based on experience.
Hours:
Fall or spring semesters, 12 to 15 hr. per week. Prefer students that have two to three full days during the week. Must be able to work at least four consecutive hours at a time and commit to a full August–May academic year.

Provide tutoring in areas of specific academic need (i.e., English, math, foreign language and the sciences) for high school students participating in the Upward Bound Program at CSUN. Upward Bound is federally funded TRiO program that seeks to increase the number of first generation and low-income students that successfully enroll in post-secondary institutions.
Duties:
- Under the supervision of the program coordinator and UB staff, the UB Academic tutor will provide tutoring to Upward bound participants in small groups or individually.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of tutoring sessions, provide student followup and periodic assessments.
- Assist in the planning and coordinating of the Saturday Academies and cultural/educational fieldtrips.
- Provide pre-college advisement for student’s grades 9-12 in the areas of college awareness, life skills, financial aid, and academic preparedness.
- Attend mandatory training sessions, held once a month on Fridays, to increase competency in working with students.
- Help students develop the study skills necessary for academic success.
- Provide accurate and precise information of post-secondary and financial aid opportunities.
- Serve as a positive role model for Upward Bound participants.
- Perform other duties as assigned to achieve project goals and objectives.

Wage: $10.50-$15.20, starting salary is $10.50/hr.
Hours:
Fall and Spring, 12-15 hr/week. Prefer students that have 2-3 full days during the week. Must be able to work at least four consecutive hours at a time and commit to full academic year — August–May.
