Getting into Research

The Office of Undergraduate Research hosts the annual Getting into Research (GIR) in September to connect undergraduate students with research opportunities at CSUN. Established in 2018 by the HERE Center's Badge Project, funded through the NIH-funded BUILD PODER grant. Getting into Research event has helped countless students find research opportunities, programs, and resources across campus. Since 2023, the Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) has hosted the Annual Getting into Research in the Northridge Center.

GIR consists of two parts:

1) Programs and Center Presentations. In the first hour, program and center directors provide brief presentations of opportunities for undergraduate students.

2) Research Faculty Mixer. Students interact with individual faculty members across campus seeking student assistants through three 20-minute rounds (akin to speed dating).

This is a great way to meet potential mentors and learn about their ongoing research projects. In 2024, 0ver 200 undergraduate students attended the GIR, with 10 programs and centers and 15 faculty members across 5 colleges.

SAVE THE DATE: Friday, September 26th from 11:00 am - 2:00 pm.
