Marcus Brady ’06 (Finance), the star quarterback of the last California State University, Northridge football team, is headed to the National Football League’s biggest stage as a consultant on the Philadelphia Eagles coaching staff.

The Eagles will face the Kansas City Chiefs for the NFL title on Sunday, Feb. 12.

Brady started the season as offensive coordinator for the Indianapolis Colts, but was let go in November as part of a series of staff shakeups. Just before Thanksgiving, he joined the Eagles, who finished the regular season with a 14-3 record and the top seed in the National Football Conference. They beat the San Francisco 49ers, 31-7, on Sunday to advance to Super Bowl LVII.

Several coaches on the Eagles staff had previously worked with Brady in Indianapolis, including head coach Nick Sirianni.

Brady has impressed at every stop. He was in his fifth season with the Colts, where General Manager Chris Ballard told Yahoo! Sports of Brady: “He’s got a very sharp mind, the quarterback room respects him, he works and he’s got a great demeanor in terms of calmness. There’s never any panic with Marcus. He’s always the same; even though the heart may be beating harder underneath, he never shows it.”

Brady is already a three-time champion as an offensive coordinator in the Canadian Football League, where he started his coaching career after spending 2002-08 as a CFL backup quarterback. In 2002, he had a training camp stint with the NFL’s Green Bay Packers.

He was the Matadors’ starting quarterback in 2001, the last CSUN football season before the program was discontinued. Brady set CSUN all-time records in passing yardage and touchdowns, and NCAA Division I-AA records in completions and attempts over a four-year career (1998-2001).
