‘Bee’ amazed by our award-winning raw, local honey! It takes on fruity and herbaceous profiles depending on the time of year when the bees feed on seasonal blooms within and surrounding CSUN’s Botanic Garden and Orange Grove. Bee a Matador’s wildflower honey is extracted from beehives in the small apiaries maintained by Rachel Mackelprang, associate professor of biology at California State University, Northridge. Professor Mackelprang is conducting research on the bees with the help from CSUN biology students and collaborates harvesting the honey with the Marilyn Magaram Center in Thieriot Laboratory (Sequoia Hall 112).

A dietary analysis is a nutritional assessment that allows technicians to analyze the patterns, quantity, and nutritional quality of food consumed by an individual. By creating a food log, a dietary analysis can be made to measure total energy consumption, nutrient intake, and nutrient diversity. Records of food intake will be analyzed using a nutrition software program that is capable of analyzing over 60 different nutrients.

Telehealth services are now available through the Marilyn Magaram Center (MMC) Wellness Clinic. From the comfort of your home, you can meet with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) using Healthie, an online platform that can be used from any device – desktop, laptop, tablet, and mobile phone. In Healthie, clients can photograph meals, journal, track data, and set short-term and long-term goals. Sessions are HIPAA-compliant and tailored to meet your individualized needs. With secure video calls and messaging, you can meet one-on-one with one of the RDNs on staff who specialize in general nutrition, wellness, diabetes, cardiac health, plant-based diets, sports nutrition, gastro-intestinal health, youth sports, child nutrition, older adult nutrition, and renal health. The MMC Wellness Clinic also offers group classes, wellness workshops, and dietary analysis which are all available virtually. If you have questions email magaram.center@csun.edu.
The Klotz Student Health Center offers many free and low-cost services to currently enrolled students including FREE, unlimited nutrition counseling with Registered Dietitian, Ellen Bauersfeld. Students can visit their website or call 818 677-3666 to schedule a virtual or in-person appointment.
