Biography
Prof. Allan Aquino
Asian American Studies makes one's understanding of America and the world broader and all the more clearer. Taking any Asian American Studies course can only be beneficial.
Professor Aquino has an MA degree in Asian American Studies from UCLA, where he was a recipient of a Graduate Fellowship award. A published poet and writer, he has the distinction of being the only student to take the last course that famed novelist, poet, and literary critic NVM Gonzalez taught in the United States. In 1998 Aquino received the distinguished CSUN Outstanding Graduating Senior award. He has been an instructor for the Asian American Studies Department since Autumn 2000.
He recalls, "Carlos Bulosan's America Is in the Heart was one of the first books I ever read "independently," and it inspired me to take my first AAS courses."

Biography
Prof. Phil Hutchison
Professor Hutchinson joined the department in Fall 2005, after completing his master's degree in Asian American Studies at University of California, Los Angeles.
The department is proud of the fact that Professor Hutchison, like Professor Aquino, attended CSUN as an undergraduate, majoring in Asian American Studies and later coming back to join the department as a professor.

Prof. Daehwan Lee
I have been teaching at CSUN since 2002. I have research interests in Asian Americans and media, gang culture, hip hop and religion
Professor Lee has taught at UCLA, UCI, CSUDH, CSUF, Claremont Colleges, Glendale Community College and he is currently a full time faculty at Pasadena City College in History and Asian American Studies.

Biography
Prof. David Song, M.A.
David K. Song has been a lecturer in the Asian American Studies Department at California State University, Northridge since 2008. He has also taught at UCLA.
Prior to finishing the MA program at UCLA, he was involved with the Korean Resource Center, a grassroots non-profit organization based out of LA's Koreatown.
At CSUN he has taught Developmental Reading, Developmental Writing, Intro to Asian American Studies, and Asian American Legal and Political History.

Biography
Professor Derek A. Tang
"Asian American Studies is about challenging yourself, venturing beyond self doubt, and ultimately exploring your soul's desire for life long mastery."
I started my college career at CSUN as a Business Marketing major. I was introduced to Asian American Studies during my freshman year and I immediately grew fond of the subject. AAS allowed me to discover abilities and talents that I had yet to realize. I am truly grateful to teach for the AAS Department and work with many of the same faculty that were instrumental to my success.
