Student Involvement

At the core of the HERE Center is collaboration, and we welcome students to join us on different initiatives and projects at the center to improve health equity in the Valley.
Events and Workshops
One of the best ways to network with our staff, faculty researchers, and other fellow students at the HERE Center is to attend public events and training workshops hosted by us or our partners.

Opportunities
- The research labs within the HERE center are currently conducting studies that are related to achieving health equity. We look for students who are passionate about social justice and health equity with the zeal to acquire and improve research skills. Experiences by lab vary and may include data collection, qualitative and quantitative analyses, center operations and management, and/or community engagement experiences. Before you begin this application, please make sure to check out our center's faculty researchers' biographies to learn about the work that we do and assess which lab or projects is of interest to you.
- It is preferable for selected interns or RAs to work in the lab for a minimum of 2 academic terms (terms = Summer, Fall, Spring). Students who require an internship experience for class credit (e.g., HSCI 494, 693, PSYC 499, EOH 494, etc.) are welcome and encouraged to apply. Even though internship experiences are unpaid, lab directors will provide guidance on financial resources to conduct your undergraduate or graduate research projects.
- Please complete this form to be considered for available intern or RA opportunities. The faculty member or director(s) of the lab(s) in which you express interest will reach out to you directly. Please note that applying does not guarantee a position in a lab and most directors will require an informal interview.
- The deadline to apply for Summer and Fall 2025 consideration is April 25, 2025, 11:59PM.
If you are a transfer student looking for professional development opportunities, such as finding summer research opportunities or asking for a letter of recommendation, check out the START office website's resources like the Badge Project.
