Below you’ll find useful information for students who are transitioning into graduate school. Make sure to check with your department or program for additional resources!

  • Visit Financial Aid and Scholarships to learn more about the financial aid available to CSUN graduate students.
  • The Office of Graduate Studies offers several scholarship opportunities. Please visit our Current Students Scholarships webpage for more information.
  • Financial aid options differ from undergraduate to graduate education. See the Forbes Advisor article titled “How The FAFSA Differs For Grad School” to learn more.
  • Explore the UCLA GRAPES database to search for external funding sources.

  • Before you begin your graduate program, work to build your knowledge and skills by meeting with a faculty member from your department.
  • Visit the Learning Resource Center to learn about writing resources, including tutoring and workshops. 
  • Access LinkedIn Learning to view available workshops and software free to CSUN students.
  • Visit the University Library to view the LibGuides for citation style guides; meet a Subject Specialist from your discipline to ask questions; and access resources related to research. 
  • Read the American Psychological Association article titled “Where do the hours go?” to learn about tips on how to develop time management skills.
  • Visit the Financial Literacy Program for financial planning and budgeting resources. This program offers resources, workshops, and a CashCourse guide.

Are you moving to attend graduate school? Use a cost-of-living calculator to compare costs in your new location with your current one. There are many cost-of-living  calculators  online,  including  CNN’s  and  Forbes’  as examples. 


If you are using any of the resources below, be sure to check with their office before you move to your new location.

Sign up for flight alerts before you move! Receive an email or text when a flight drops below a certain amount. Read the Travel & Leisure article titled “How to Use Flight Price Alerts to Save Money on Your Next Trip” to learn more.


CashCourse, offered through CSUN’s Financial Literacy program, has online tools that can help you save and budget before you move. 

  • Prospective students can use our interactive program finder to explore CSUN’s graduate programs.
  • We have a vibrant campus; to take a virtual or in person tour, please visit our Campus Tour website.
  • Prospective domestic students can contact our Domestic Graduate Admissions area at call (818) 677-5800 to speak with an admissions advisor regarding their application status for graduate school. International students should visit the International Admissions website.
  • Newly admitted graduate students will receive an invitation to attend a virtual or in-person orientation.
  • Current students can utilize the University Catalog to find your graduate program and graduate coordinator’s contact information.
  • Current students can contact our Graduate Evaluations area at (818) 677-4800 to speak with an evaluator with questions or concerns related to their student file.
  • Explore our Current Graduate Student page to learn more about our events, scholarships, and resources.
  • Internal and External scholarships can be found by visiting our Financial Aid and Scholarships page.
