Academic photos should show individual students pursuing their passions, student/faculty collaboration, and engaged classroom learning.

Campus life, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities photographs should capture the college experience outside of the classroom. From athletics to fine arts, leadership, and community engagement - you will want to use images that define the culture and distinguishing characteristics of CSUN.

Portraits of students and faculty used for spotlight stories or testimonials can be featured in a variety of communications.

Campus environment photography should highlight the student experience within CSUN’s unique architecture and the surrounding campus environment. The idea is to capture a sense of community in the context of facilities and spaces. Shots should be wide and expansive with multiple individuals socializing, studying or moving through the spaces.

Resources

Teaching Associate and Graduate Assistant

CSUN offers a wide variety of opportunities for graduate students to become academic student employees in their specific advanced fields of study. The three categories of academic student employees covered by the Unit 11 contract are:

  • Teaching Associates, who gain practical experience through teaching university courses.
  • Graduate Assistants, who provide professional and technical support to regular faculty members in their master’s field of study.
  • Instructional Student Assistants, who provide counseling, grading, and/or tutoring services to different departments or administrative offices.

For more information please contact your department.

The Pedagogy Fellowship Program (formerly known as the Teaching Assistant Fellowship Program) is a training program for CSUN students interested in becoming teachers. The program is focused on a broad range of topics, including teaching philosophy development, syllabus and lesson design, professional development and principles in advanced pedagogy.

There are many resources at CSUN to help graduate students with their professional development.

Career Center

  • Students can find resources about internship and job searches, resumes and interviewing through CareerLink.
  • Once a student has created a resume, we encourage them to take it to the Career Center during their drop-in hours to have their resume review by a counselor.
  • Students can view workshops on networking and interviewing on the Career Center YouTube channel. The Career Center also posts videos about resumes and other resources.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

As students prepare for a career path, making decisions about income and finances can be stressful.  CSUN's Financial Literacy program offers great resources such as understanding your credit score and budgeting. Their program aims to expand students’ understanding of money management strategies and help them make informed financial decisions.

Learning Resource Center

Matador Involvement Center/Mata SYNC

  • CSUN has over 300 clubs and organizations.
  • Students can search for their graduate program or intended career path through the Clubs & Orgs Directory. Students will have access to organizations where they can engage in professional development opportunities.

Matty’s Closet

  • We encourage students to visit Matty's Closet to receive a free professional attire they can wear during their interviews.
