Study one of the oldest and richest cultures in the world with a minor in modern China studies. The minor goes well with any major and increases your career opportunities.
Why Minor in Modern China Studies?
China is one of the world’s oldest and richest continuous cultures, more than 5,000 years old. China is the second largest economy in the world and one of largest trading partners of the United States. Many U.S. companies do business in China and have long-term investments there.
Mandarin Chinese is spoken by more than 1 billion people around the world, about one fifth of the global population. It’s the official language of China, as well as Taiwan and Hong Kong.
The U.S. government has identified Mandarin Chinese as one of the critical-need languages. Such agencies as the State Department and the Department of Commerce are looking for employees with expertise in Chinese.
