Many work environments, particularly those in medical and health care settings, require you to be credentialed as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN). Certificate programs prepare you to be eligible for these exams.

During a dietetic internship, you'll be are exposed to the variety and diversity of dietetic practice through planned experiences in multiple settings. You'll work with Registered Dietitians in traditional hospital practice, outpatient clinics, food management programs, and other settings.

The Dietetic Internship (DI) program enables you to complete the required hours of supervised practice and coursework necessary for eligibility for the Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) exam.

Hands-on Learning

You'll receive personalized supervision from our experienced faculty at selected community settings, such as outpatient clinics, stressing the planning, delivery and evaluation of preventive health services to clients with complex nutritional needs. You'll also practice food service production, management and administration, as well as supervised practices at selected clinical settings, such as hospitals.

A Growing Body of Knowledge

You'll gain knowledge of human ecological theory and the integrative nature of the family and consumer sciences profession. And you'll continue the practice of lifelong learning as a personal and professional obligation for the practice of dietetics.
