About

Established in 2024 with a grant from the USDA Forest Service, the Urban Forestry Project empowers students and community members to develop a career in urban forestry and sustainability.

Our Goals

  • Provide hands-on opportunities for workforce development
  • Increase workforce awareness and skills in urban forestry
  • Promote the benefits of native trees
  • Promote knowledge in the field of environmental conservation and urban forestry
  • Plant trees and engage the community in tree planting
  • Establish a tribal nursery

To meet these goals, we’ve partnered with the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians and the Tataviam Land Conservancy.
