Academic Program
Honors General Education courses satisfy general education requirements while also satisfying requirements for receiving GE Honors recognition at graduation. Enrollment in Honors courses is restricted to the GE Honors students only. In addition to the Honors general education courses offered by Departments across campus, the GE Honors Program also offers its own Honors-only general education courses: GEH 111, GEH 222, and GEH 333. All Honors coursework is noted on student transcripts.
The completion of 15-units of Honors coursework is required for special GE Honors recognition upon graduation. The completion of a 3-units Honors GE course is required to receive the GE Honors cord upon graduation.
GE Honors Certificate requirements:
- Complete 15 units of Honors general education coursework
- Receive a grade of B or better (3.0 GPA) in Honors general education courses
- Maintain a CSUN GPA of 3.3
GE Honors Cord requirements:
- Complete at least 3 units of Honors general education coursework
- Receive a grade of B or better (3.0 GPA) in one Honors general education course
- Maintain a CSUN GPA of 3.3
Transfer Students
Students who have transferred with course credits in honors from Community Colleges or other four-year institutions should consult with the Director concerning the application of those credits towards satisfying the requirements for the GE Honors Certificate. In such cases, normally at least nine units of GE Honors credit earned at CSUN will be required.
Cord and Certificate Ceremony and Celebration
Graduating GE Honors students who earned either a GE Honors cord or GE Honors certificate are invited with their guests to the year-end Cord and Certificate Ceremony and Celebration. The celebration of our graduating GE Honors students precedes the University's Honors Convocation. It is schedule for the afternoon of May 10, 2025.
