Graduating Cohort

The first cohort of students to complete CSUN’s MA program in Sustainability graduated in May 2024. Congratulations to Joel Carreon, Tiffany Derrick, Nelson Portillo, Victoria Rogers, Bryan Tran and Benjamin Verheiden! These creative leaders have helped pilot and strengthen the MA program and through their projects have already begun creating a better, greener future. We are so proud of this inaugural cohort!

Tiffany Derrick

For her culminating project, Tiffany developed comprehensive garden toolkits tailored for schools to promote the creation of green spaces within educational settings for K–12 students. Her project empowers educators to engage students in hands-on learning experiences that deepen their understanding of environmental concepts.

Victoria Rogers

Victoria's project aims to determine whether the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant funded as part of the Inflation Reduction Act could provide financial assistance to reduce emissions in the oil and gas industry. Drawing from mixed-methods research and a cost-benefit analysis, she makes policy recommendations on how the grant could be implemented more effectively.
