How Can We Help You Today?

Resources
We have collected a variety of mental health, wellness, and substance use prevention resources for you. Here you can find hotlines, treatment, and counseling information, as well as prevention information on topics such as alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.

Research
Our program aims to test the effectiveness of our substance misuse prevention and coping skills web-app, and create awareness around available mental health and substance use resources on campus.

About Us
MATAspire (Mental health Awareness Tailored App for Substance Prevention and Integrated Resilience Education) is a 5-year grant, led by Dr. Bethany Rainisch (Health Sciences). MATAspire has developed a substance use prevention and coping skills webapp, with a focus on promoting coping skills, resilience, and health and wellness activities. You can also find prevention resources on our website, and during events on campus.
Through the development of our webapp and through promoting mental health and wellbeing resources, our mission is to increase awareness about substance use and mental health, reduce risky behavior, and reduce the stigma behind substance misuse and mental health among students on campus.
This grant is funded by the federal agency, SAMHSA. If you are looking for information regarding our previous SAMHSA-funded grant, iSTART, you can contact bethany.rainisch@csun.edu.

Funding Agency
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. SAMHSA's mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America's communities.
