I’m a continuing CSUN student for Fall 2022. Do I need to comply with these required immunizations?

No, only 1st year students and transfer students entering CSUN in Fall 2022 or after must comply. However, these vaccines are recommended by the CDC to protect you and others, so we do encourage you to consider getting them if you have not had them yet. Please talk to your health care provider or the Klotz Student Health Center at 818-677-3666, Option 1.

I’m coming to CSUN in Fall 2022. What if I need to get some of these required immunization(s)?

You can receive the immunizations at your healthcare provider’s office or local healthcare facility. Additional sites near you can be found at LA County primary care facilities. LA County provides vaccinations at no or low cost.

Is there a charge for immunizations?

Your vaccines may be free if you have insurance and are obtained from an outside healthcare provider. At the SHC, we can only offer immunizations at wholesale cost and provide you with a receipt for your insurance company that you can use to apply for reimbursement. Medi-Cal will not reimburse from an SHC receipt, so you may prefer to go to your local Medi-Cal provider or County facility. If you are 18 or under, and do not have health insurance/Medi-Cal, you may be eligible for free vaccines under the Vaccines for Children program. For more information visit VFC clinic locations. The Klotz SHC also provides VFC vaccines to those eligible.

What is considered an acceptable immunization record?

Acceptable records include records signed by a licensed healthcare provider confirming immunization or immunity to the specifically named diseases. If immunization records are in another language other than English, the record must be translated to English and signed by a licensed healthcare provider.

Are exemptions allowed?

Personal or religious exemptions to these requirements are not allowed by EO 803. Medical exemptions requested by a licensed healthcare professional will be considered.

All students enrolled in health care fields of study or teacher education programs are required to provide documentation regarding the completion of immunizations and health screenings as established by the state licensing agencies or clinical placement sites or fieldwork sites. Students should contact the academic program for the specific required immunizations, health screenings (e.g., TB screening and physical examination) and any other fieldwork or clinical placement requirements.
