Confidentiality

California State University, Northridge maintains strict confidentiality and the privacy of individuals in compliance with the Information Practices Act of 1977 and Title 5, California Code of Regulations, in addition to other federal and state laws.

These laws pertain to the security and privacy of all records that contain information that identifies or could lead to the identification of a student, or that could reveal private information concerning an employee. Employees may be given access to such private information within the scope of their employment and are to use this information only as needed to conduct business as required by their job.

Employees of the university are required to protect against unauthorized access to such information, ensure the security and privacy of such information, and disclose any anticipated threats or breaches to such information.
