International Applicant Information
The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program at California State University, Northridge accepts international applicants who meet qualifications for entry.
Our DPT Program is entry-level and is not appropriate for those who are already trained as physical therapists. It is designed for individuals who want to become eligible for licensure as a physical therapist within the United States (U.S.) and who have completed at least a Bachelor’s degree. Even if you are a trained PT in another country, you must meet and complete all of same requirements as all applicants.
International applicants must have:
- Bachelor’s degree (any major)
- 10 Prerequisite courses (prerequisite courses)
- GRE (Analytical, Verbal, & Quantitative)
- 200 PT hours are required – under a licensed physical therapist
- 3 letters of recommendation – at least 1 from a licensed physical therapist
International applicants must also:
- Translate and evaluate all transcripts from foreign institutions of higher education they have attended. PTCAS will only accept foreign transcript evaluations from the World Education Services (WES) and will no longer accept evaluations from other agencies.
- Arrange for WES to send a course-by-course report to PTCAS. Applicants are advised to allow 4–6 weeks for WES to process and send the evaluation to PTCAS, once a report is requested.
