For decades, CSUN’s Department of Nursing has delivered the essential knowledge and leadership skills for success in Nursing. Students graduate prepared to take the NCLEX exam and go on to careers as:

  • direct care providers
  • school nurses
  • public health nurse managers
  • staff educators
  • clinical instructors in schools

Those who go on to pursue graduate degrees may become:

  • nurse anesthetists
  • nurse practitioners
  • faculty
  • administrators
  • clinical specialists

CSUN Nursing works with partners in the health care industry – from major hospitals to smaller, community-based clinics – to find placements and opportunities for students to work in a variety of health care settings to gain a deep, first hand understanding of the field’s practices and principles.


CSUN Nursing offers the following degree programs:

  • Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN to BSN)
  • Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (A-BSN) (offered through Tseng College)
  • Public Health Nurse certificate
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) (offered through Tseng College)

Programs meet the needs of urban and suburban communities. Coursework is tailored for the health care sector, with content covering human development, assessment skills, theories of nursing, ethics, as well as current issues on the field.

Accreditation:

CSUN is accredited by The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), a regional institutional accrediting body, recognized by the U.S. Council of Higher Education and Accreditation. In 2012, the WASC Commission stated, “The Commission commends CSUN for becoming a model learning organization characterized by collaborative and evidence-based planning, decision making and problem solving. Among its accomplishments during this review are its deep understanding of the characteristics and needs of CSUN students, which has led to programs and activities that promote student success.
