Secondary Education Center for Professional Development and Educational Outreach
Directors: Julie Gainsburg & Shari Tarver Behring
Mission
The purpose of the Secondary Education Center for Professional Development and Educational Outreach is to support faculty research, professional development, and education outreach in the SED. The Center promotes faculty scholarly projects, research, publications, and curriculum/program development by providing funds for materials, professional books, professional travel, and time. The Center also augments equipment and services that enrich the operations and programs of the Department and College, supporting guest lecturers, work-study student assistants, and technology. Conferences, workshops, seminars, and other forms of educational outreach may also be funded by the Center to develop or improve SED programs and to provide a service to the College or community. The Center oversees the Summer Academic Enrichment Program (SAEP)—a summer school on the CSUN campus that offers for-credit and enrichment courses for local middle and high school students; SAEP is the sole provider of funding for the Center.
