What Is the Campus Quality Fee (CQF)?

From the Black House and the DREAM Center to lactation pods and the library’s Creative Maker Studio, CSUN students benefit from the Campus Quality Fee in numerous ways.

This annual enrichment fee:

  • Increases the availability of student support services for all.
  • Pays to maintain and update technologies.
  • Funds instruction-related activities such as tutoring.
  • Eliminates course-specific fees, as for labs, materials and supplies.
  • Helps support intercollegiate athletics.

Funding News for Upcoming Academic Years

Consistent with the university’s goal of managing student costs, the Campus Quality Fee has remained essentially flat, increasing by less than 1% each year since it was introduced in 2008. Due to lower enrollment numbers over the last several years, funds have not significantly increased and, consequently, only a few new proposals have been funded.

Because we anticipate that funding will continue to be limited, a call for proposals has not been issued recently. Instead, funds will be awarded to projects that have been previously funded for 10 or more years and to all other projects that were funded for 2024-2025. Proposals for new initiatives will not be accepted for the time being. In the future, if enrollment increases enough to generate significantly more funds, a decision may be made to accept new proposals.
