CSUN SPRINT Grant
The CSUN SPRINT (Summer PRogress INcluding Tuition) Program provides special summer funding to cover tuition for up to two CSUN classes (or 6 units) during Summer 2025 for students with demonstrated need. The funding is only available to students who meet the qualifications and cannot be transferred to other students.
This program is funded by the California State University Office of the Chancellor to help support students' degree completion.
Students who have been notified that they are eligible for the SPRINT Program should carefully follow the instructions in the email to apply. This opportunity is available on a first-come, first-served basis. We cannot guarantee that all eligible students will receive funding.
Students should check their Degree Progress Report and/or consult with their academic advisor to make sure that they are taking courses that are needed for progress toward the degree and to satisfy requirements.
The funding for this program is provided by the California State University Office of the Chancellor to support degree completion among CSUN students who have demonstrated financial need.
For information on Summer 2025 Tuition and Fees visit Student Financial Services. The SPRINT Summer Grant for 2025 is limited to subsidize up to 6 units of enrollment. Grant recipients enrolling in more than 6 units will be responsible for fees in excess of the grant award. The SPRINT grant pays for tuition and fees only.
Classes in Summer 2025 will be offered fully-online and in-person. Please check the class schedule to learn if a class is offered in-person, asynchronously or synchronously.
Classes are scheduled in either Summer Session 1 (May 27-August 19), Summer Session 2 (May 27-July 8) or Summer Session 3 (July 9-August 19). You may choose a class from any of the sessions.
Why should I enroll in summer classes?
- It's a great way to fill in required general education courses or finish courses you were unable to complete in the current academic year, which can help you stay on track to graduation.
- You only have to buy the course materials.
- Your Tuition and Fees are covered. Why not take the opportunity to spend the summer learning something new or finishing something difficult?
Can I take more than six units?
The SPRINT grant only covers tuition for up to 6 units. If you want to take more than 6 units, you will have to pay the additional tuition.
What if I only want to take one course?
While we hope you take full advantage of this grant by enrolling in 4-6 units, you may enroll in only one course.
I didn't get an email about this grant. How do I know if I'm eligible?
The SPRINT Grant funding came from the CSU Chancellor's Office with eligibility for students who demonstrated financial need in the 2024-2025 academic year. We emailed selected eligible students to their CSUN email addresses.
When can I register?
Students notified they are eligible for the SPRINT Program may enroll upon notification. Funding is limited and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so please enroll as soon as possible.
What happens if I don't pass the classes? Will I owe the money back?
If you don't pass the class(es), the grades will affect your GPA and will count as enrollments. However, this grant does not need to be repaid even if you don't pass. We want to help you be successful. Academic support is available through the LRC, Writing Lab and other resources. Let your advisor know if you are struggling. Let us know if you need more academic support.
What if I withdraw from classes?
If you withdraw from classes before the first day of the summer session, your grant will be canceled. If you withdraw after classes have started, your grant will be adjusted according to your summer charges. Students who receive financial aid and withdraw from the institution during the academic term or payment period may be required to return or repay part or all of the funds they received, potentially resulting in a debt to the institution.
